Due to my ANGER last night, the Mister and I decided to go out for sushi to de-stress and spend some quality time together. We went to one of our favorite spots — SUSHI ROCK. Sushi Rock is home of my favorite Maki roll in the world! – the Pretty Woman
It contains: salmon, avocado, cucumber and cream cheese. Topped with fresh kiwi slices! Isn’t she gorgeous?

This certainly helped me forget my frustrations! – this, and my stunning Mister, of course!
Tonight the Mister and I are going to see a movie (Funny People) with my parents — looking forward to it!
What are all of you up to tonight?
You knew it was coming… this week’s sushi joint.
After our amazing NYC sushi experience, the Mister and I were going through serious withdrawal and craving some sushi goodness the other night. We decided to stop at Tree Country, a small, casual sushi joint just down the street.
From the Tree Country Web site:
Only the finest meats and freshest vegetables, which come fresh from the farmer’s market, find their way into our kitchen. Once there, they are cooked in pure vegetable oil to bring out the true flavors of authentic meal.
I ordered the Ebi Mango Maki(cooked shrimp, mango and house special sauce rolled with slices of mango on top). I’m so happy I ordered this – the Mango transformed the roll into a fantastic summer dish!

How adorable are the handcrafted garnishes?

Per usual, I also ordered my ‘go-to’ roll – Philadelphia Maki (salmon, cream cheese, cucumber, scallion).

The Mister and I are FINALLY installing our air conditioning units tonight — a friend is coming over to help (Hi Josh!). In the meantime, can you share some tips and tricks to help me beat this heat?! I see Popsicles in my future!
A maki roll that is! Ba dum bum….
Seriously though, it seems the Mister and I have been having sushi at least once a week! We’re both addicts, so we can only go so long without resisting. We’ve been trying to change it up by selecting a new place to try each week, and we’re definitely uncovering some new favorites. Last night we went to Aeoshi Cafe, a small sushi joint that’s been receiving RAVE reviews, despite its ‘no-frills’ atmosphere.

Show offs!
The Mister and I each ordered two maki rolls. I went with the New York, which contains crab, shrimp, avocado, fish roe and APPLE! In addition, I selected the Philadelphia roll, which is simply salmon and cream cheese (my favorite classic roll)!

Both were delicious! Aeoshi Cafe is one of our new favorites, for sure. The Mister and I both agreed that the consistency of the rice and the sushi temperature were what put this spot over the top. The rice was sticky and soft, without being mushy and served as a great backdrop for the fish and other mix-ins. I loved the APPLE in the New York roll! So unexpected, and such a sweet addition! Sorry if you are getting sick of my sushi posts, but I just can’t resist! Whenever the Mister and I don’t know what to do for dinner, we normally end up eating sushi.
What type of cuisine do you constantly crave?
