Thankful Thursday – New adventures, my incredible musical taste and rice krispies

Good morning!

Sorry I was MIA yesterday. The Mister and I had a BIG adventure on Tuesday and it took me awhile to recover and get the household back in order.

HA – the word “household” always makes me feel so adult.

OK – focusing… You probably are all curious to our adventure, no?

After work on Tuesday, we loaded up the car with snacks and Jimmy Johns and headed up to Ann Arbor to catch The Boxer Rebellion at The Blind Pig.

Incredible.

The Blind Pig is a pretty small venue — we were about 20 feet from the band!

The Boxer Rebellion was one of my favorites before the concert and after seeing them live, they easily make my top 5. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. And another extra treat was that we got to see We Are Augustines open for them (one of my favorite things about going to concerts is seeing new bands – it’s how the Mister and I first fell in love with Neon Trees and Paper Tongues!) Check out my post when I first saw Neon Trees (Note that this was BEFORE they got super famous — the Mister and I have an eye for talent, obvi ;) )

Anyway, We Are Augustines was really amazing live – very talented group of musicians – and I can see them becoming a new favorite – be sure to check them out!

The concert sadly ended at 11:30 and it was then time to face our two and a half hour drive back the the CLE.

Of course that’s when a major storm decided to come rolling through. Poor Mister, who had to drive home and pay complete attention to the road while I dozed in and out of sleep (I tried SO HARD to stay awake!) We finally got home to Bean and grandma around 3 am. Naturally, Bean came a callin’ for milk around 6 am, so I only got 3 hours of sleep. It’s OK, though – it was totally worth it.

Anyway, enough about my incredible taste in music — let’s get to this week’s moments of gratitude.

This week, I’m thankful for –

Jesus — with all the fun Easter activities and yummy food, let’s not forget what this day is really about, people. So, so incredibly thankful for Jesus — today, and always ;)

The Boxer Rebellion — if you don’t have their album, listen to it on their website, you mind will be blown, I promise

Coffee

Breast pump technology — can’t say our adventure on Tuesday would have been as comfortable without it!

Rice Krispies – you’ll find out why soon enough ;)

Sunshine

The upcoming weekend

What are you thankful for this week? And what bands have you discovered by going to other concerts?!

Thankful Thursday – Butter, Paper Tongues and Best Friends

Thursday already? Jeezy!

With the week flying by, it’s so easy to get caught up in the chaos and keep moving full speed ahead. I encourage you to STOP. Just for a second. Don’t worry, in no time at all you’ll be back at it, but just take a few minutes to stop, breathe and reflect on your week.

You’ll be happy you did.

This week, I’m thankful for…

Bread and butter – If I could live on this, with no threat to my cardiac health, I would. Seriously.

The Wire – me and the Mister’s summer selection. Just finished season 1 and it rocked my socks.

VACATION. Today is my last day at work. Today is my last day at work. Today is my last day at work. Until Monday, July 19. Did you hear that? Good. Just want to make sure I’m rubbing it in.

Celebrations! Tonight I head to Chicago to visit my oldest, bestest friend Tracy for her Bachelorette Party Extravaganza. Prepare yourself for ridiculous photos and lots of stuff that probably only I will find funny.

Good books — Currently reading: The Piano Teacher. Up next: Little Bee.

Smoothies – in this heat, I’ve been livin’ off ‘em!

Paper Tongues – my new favorite band. Listen to them now.

What are you thankful for this week? I love reading your lists, so if you have time, please share!
