Thankful Thursday – New adventures, my incredible musical taste and rice krispies

Thankful

Good morning!

Sorry I was MIA yesterday. The Mister and I had a BIG adventure on Tuesday and it took me awhile to recover and get the household back in order.

HA – the word “household” always makes me feel so adult.

OK – focusing… You probably are all curious to our adventure, no?

After work on Tuesday, we loaded up the car with snacks and Jimmy Johns and headed up to Ann Arbor to catch The Boxer Rebellion at The Blind Pig.

Incredible.

The Blind Pig is a pretty small venue — we were about 20 feet from the band!

The Boxer Rebellion was one of my favorites before the concert and after seeing them live, they easily make my top 5. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. And another extra treat was that we got to see We Are Augustines open for them (one of my favorite things about going to concerts is seeing new bands – it’s how the Mister and I first fell in love with Neon Trees and Paper Tongues!) Check out my post when I first saw Neon Trees (Note that this was BEFORE they got super famous — the Mister and I have an eye for talent, obvi ;) )

Anyway, We Are Augustines was really amazing live – very talented group of musicians – and I can see them becoming a new favorite – be sure to check them out!

The concert sadly ended at 11:30 and it was then time to face our two and a half hour drive back the the CLE.

Of course that’s when a major storm decided to come rolling through. Poor Mister, who had to drive home and pay complete attention to the road while I dozed in and out of sleep (I tried SO HARD to stay awake!) We finally got home to Bean and grandma around 3 am. Naturally, Bean came a callin’ for milk around 6 am, so I only got 3 hours of sleep. It’s OK, though – it was totally worth it.

Anyway, enough about my incredible taste in music — let’s get to this week’s moments of gratitude.

This week, I’m thankful for –

Jesus — with all the fun Easter activities and yummy food, let’s not forget what this day is really about, people. So, so incredibly thankful for Jesus — today, and always ;)

The Boxer Rebellion — if you don’t have their album, listen to it on their website, you mind will be blown, I promise

Coffee

Breast pump technology — can’t say our adventure on Tuesday would have been as comfortable without it!

Rice Krispies – you’ll find out why soon enough ;)

Sunshine

The upcoming weekend

What are you thankful for this week? And what bands have you discovered by going to other concerts?!

Thankful Thursday – Patriotism and Neon Trees

Happy Thursday, everyone!

I apologize for my lack of posting yesterday. The Mister and I took the day off to spend some much-needed time together and I wasn’t about to waste even ONE SECOND on the computer!

The morning was spent going on a walk for a tasty smoothie, followed by Eclipse and THE BODIES exhibit. We then headed over to one of my favorite restaurants and capped the evening off with Neon Trees. What.a.day. It actually felt like a summer COLLEGE day. Ya know, before we had jobs, obligations and deadlines. Oh how I long for those days. College and high school students – HANG ON TO THEM! seriously.

Alright, enough whining. Let’s think about the moments this week for which we’re thankful. I’ll start…

I’m thankful for:

My health

Beautiful weather and lowered humidity

Simple dinners that allow me to spend more time playing outside

Neon Trees, for letting me ROCK OUT ;)

My friends, and that the Mister and I are so busy with all our fun, upcoming plans with them

The upcoming long weekend with multiple cookouts and spending time with family

Fresh, in-season fruit – nothing beats it ;)

America – and the freedoms it provides – can you tell I’m feeling patriotic?

What are YOU thankful for this week?

30 seconds to mars

Good morning, friends! How was everyone’s weekend?! I have a pretty incredible dining experience to share with you — as well as a BIG announcement, but first — the concert!

The Mister and I headed out for Detroit late Saturday afternoon. The concert was at The Fillmore – a really cool venue!

The Mister and I took our seats in the balcony — no MOSH PITS for us! Getting a swift kick to the jaw just didn’t sound that appealing. The opening band took the stage and the Mister and I were both SO HAPPY we got their early enough to see them. We loved them so much that we actually purchased the album on our iPhone RIGHT THERE on the spot. We were both saying how CRAZY it is that technology even makes this possible! We both remember downloading songs of Napster when we were younger and each file taking an HOUR to load — who would have thought that eventually you’d be able to hear a band at a concert– download their CD to your phone and listen to it on the way home. Craziness. The band is called Neon Trees and they will rock your socks off. Give ‘em a listen.

Between sets, the Mister and I had some fun with the camera…

He started off a lil camera shy.

But eventually we got some good pics ;)

When the lights dimmed the crowd went CrAzY!

30 seconds to mars was INCREDIBLE! Jared Leto is such an amazing performer. The Mister and I were both surprised how many notes he could hit live.

At the end of the show, he pulled some people from the audience up on the stage! It was at this point that I was damning myself for NOT being in the mosh pit! Oh well, at least I have all my teeth ;)

‘Twas excellent. The Mister and I had a long, tired drive home (he had his first cup of coffee! – OH HOW I WISH I took a pic, as his face was priceless (he HATED it- then again, he also had it BLACK).

Phew! I hope you enjoyed all those photos!

Now for the announcement.

The Mister and I are…….

DOING P90X!

We have been feeling in a bit of a slump lately and what better way to kick things up a notch! We did the first workout this morning and O….M….G.

Before I get into all the details, how much are you guys actually interested in hearing more about this? Want little re-caps of each workout? Or do you just want a full re-cap at the end of the 90 days? Or do you not want to hear about it at all? I know several of you are interested in P90X or have possibly considered doing it yourself! (or maybe you already have!)

Let me know just how much interest you have and what you want to be kept in the loop about!

I’ll be back later with my fun dining experience and a DELICIOUS new recipe!
