Fashion Friday – Spring Karma

Happy Friday Friends!

First things first: yesterday was INCREDIBLE! I’m so happy the Mister and I decided to take the afternoon off. After eating lunch, we headed straight to the metroparks and ended up riding 13.3 miles! And due to my new wheels, I was riding in comfort the whole time! While the exercise was certainly a plus, we were both just so happy to get out of the office, enjoy each other’s company and take advantage of the weather. Sometimes you just have to play hooky ;)

Unfortunately, our excursion ended on a bit of a sour note — I CANNOT FIND MY CAMERA! Here’s what went down: The Mister and I have super cool bike packs that strap underneath our seats, allowing us to keep our keys/phones/CAMERA/etc. with us while we’re riding. Due to the way my bike is designed, I have to remove my pouch when I put my bike on the Mister’s car bike rack. I distinctly remember taking it off my bike when we were leaving the park (I even brushed it off, since it had gotten a little muddy). I then got in the car and that’s the last time I remember seeing it. Chain of events: the Mister and I stopped at my parents’ house down the street to use the bathroom and get something to drink. Then we went home, took the bikes off the rack and went inside.

So the pouch is either: in the metroparks parking lot (I called the park ranger AND the police — although I’m certain they are more concerned about “the crazy nutty lady” than my camera), my parents’ house (she swears she scoured the place) with  a thieve that swiped it when I wasn’t look (doesn’t seem probable, as the Mister and I were always within sight of the car). Anyway, I am NOT A HAPPY CAMPER. I can’t stop thinking about it! I swear, it’s giving me anxiety. So, I am BEGGING YOU — can you please send me some good vibes/karma? Just think positive thoughts for me, OK? In addition to being an awesome camera that I use daily it was also a gift from the Mister (so that makes me feel about 10x more horrible). But let’s see what the power of positive thinking can do, shall we?! I need your good karma! ;) THANK YOU.

So, while I would love to show you my fashion friday photos from my camera — I can’t! You’ll have to settle for my crummy back-up iPhone photos. Don’t hate.

In the mix:

  • Blouse: SAKS
  • Skirt: SAKS
  • Scarf: Handknit by Grandma

Please excuse the horrid lighting!

In the mix:

  • Dress: Francesca’s (cute AND affordable stuff!)
  • Cardigan: SAKS
  • Belt: Anthropologie
  • Boots: UGG

The approach I took with both outfits featured this week was to take a spring piece (1st outfit- skirt, second- dress) and pair it with basic, warmer staples (ie – cardigan, leggings, etc). One of my favorite looks is paring a spring dress with a turtle neck or belted cardigan and wearing leggings with boots (ankle boots would be especially cute!). This way you are incorporating some spring-elements, but not looking like you jumped the gun too soon.

What spring fashion are you most looking forward to?

Fashion Friday – The fashionistas are back!

Happy Friday! I have lots of photos this week so I’m going to stop my babbling and get right to it!

In the mix:

  • Skirt: Talbot’s
  • Brown suede shirt: Nordstrom
  • Scarf: Anthropologie
  • Boots: Dillard’s

In the mix:

  • Skirt: Nordstrom
  • Top: Boutique in Florida
  • Boots: Boutique in Chagrin Falls, Ohio (Winds of Change)

Katie

Welcome, Katie! How chic is she?! I LOVE those shoes! And it’s so great that they are such a neutral color – you can basically wear them with anything! The dress is such a classic and looks great with her beautiful skin tone. I also dig the belt and the fact that it accentuates her tiny waist – SO CUTE! Katie’s dress and shoes are from Banana Republic and her watch is Tag.

Lindsay

Next up, Lindsay! Now, before we get to the clothes, Linday’s house is STUNNING ;) My wood floors are jealous of her wood floors – I don’t think mine could look that clean if they tried! (And I am jealous of her SHORT SLEEVES!) Anyway, moving on… how adorable is this girl? I LOVE the bag! Is it Marc Jacobs? Kate Spade? I tend to have a good eye… ;) I admire the simplicity of this outfit – it screams casual chic! And look how a sparkly necklace can take an outfit to the next level – so sophisticated!

Marie

SO charming! I smiled when I saw this sweater (p.s. any piece of clothing that truly makes you smile — BUY IT!). She tells me it’s from Wet Seal, and I kind of refuse to believe her! Tell me that does not look like it was pulled straight from Anthropologie! So DARLING! This is the type of sweater I need to feel like spring is in the air! So cute.

Aimee

Never underestimate the chicness that one solid color provides. Aimee looks artsy, stylish AND comfortable! And I love that she decided to change it up at the bottom with a different colored ballet flat. If it were me, THAT is where I would add my pop of color — maybe bright pink, emerald green or yellow — with black as your base-color, you can really go with whatever you’d like! Those pants are great! Are they just skinny jeans or thicker leggings? (jeggings!) Such a relaxed feel – I envey your “cool factor.”

Thanks to all who participated!

Fashion Friday

The snow has returned with a vengeance! I guess Father Winter isn’t ready to pass the torch — so scratch what I said yesterday about “spring being right around the corner!” I now feel like the town idiot ;)

I have a lot to get to today, so let’s dive right in, shall we?

In the mix:

  • Scarf – I am mildly obsessed with this odd color! – NORDSTROM
  • Navy cardigan – SAKS
  • Blouse – The Limited
  • Gauchos – T.J. Maxx
  • Necklace – SAKS

In the mix:

  • Green sweater – Anthropologie
  • Grey dress – The Limited
  • Blouse – The Limited
  • Boots – Cole Haan
  • Necklace – Marc Jacobs

I’d love to stay and chat, but I have a mile-long to-do list that is calling my name. I’ll be back later for the Daily Delish ;)

What is everyone up to this weekend? Tonight the Mister and I are going to go see SHUTTER ISLAND with my parents – has anyone seen it yet? Looks like it might be a nail-bitter!

NOTE: Next week we’ll have the FASHION FRIDAY CONTEST – so get your photos ready and start emailing them to me!

Fashion Friday – PINK…two ways

Happy Fashion Friday! This week’s theme? HOT PINK!

Without planning it, I wore two outfits featuring the happy color and on both days the sun was SHINING! Coincidence? I think not ;) Note: I’m not really a “hot pink kinda girl,” but any bright, vibrant color always brings a smile to my face – it’s like the energy of the color transcends into my overall psyche — call me crazy, but if it makes me happy, I’m runnin’ with it ;)

While each outfit featured the spunky color, that was where the comparisons ended. One of the outfits was office/meeting friendly and the other was “casual Friday” appropriate.

The first of the two was the office-friendly ensemble:

In the mix:

  • Leather skirt: BCBG
  • Black button-down: Banana Republic
  • Hot pink shirt: Express
  • Shoes: Enzo Angiolini

I really liked how much personality this outfit had, with still being professional. It’s amazing what a difference a punch of color can make!

My next outfit is actually thew one I’m wearing today – casual Friday at its finest!

In the mix:

  • Shirt/dress: Custo Barcelona
  • Grey jeans: Barney’s NY
  • Leather bomber jacket: Topshop
  • Ankle boots: Marc Jacobs
  • Scarf: Another handknit creation by my GRANDMA!

I apologize for the poor photo quality and horrific lighting!

What color do you wear to perk up your mood?

Fashion Friday – Keeping warm

Happy Friday!!! Are you excited for the weekend?! I have such a great one planned I can hardly even stand it!

Tonight I’m having a girls night with my friend, Jenn. We are going to one of my favorite spots - NAYA- and then catching a movie. Tomorrow the Mister and I plan on sleeping in and lazing around until we head to dinner and a touring Broadway musical, In the Heights. Sunday my Valentine and I will be catching an early showing of “Valentine’s Day” and making a romantic dinner together at home – I can’t wait to share the goodies we have planned!

Anyway, enough of my rambling, let’s get to the outfits!

I wore this first outfir last Friday and again, I apologize for the grainy, iPhone photos. Once it is warm again the Mister will resume his role as photographer ;)

In the mix:

  • Long tank top: Michael Stars
  • Hoodie: Ed Hardy
  • Black Cords: Juicy

I love this next outfit because it’s warm, comfy AND office appropriate. I love the added flare the belt gives to the outfit- such a vibrant color!

In the mix:

  • Cashmere sweater: SAKS
  • White blouse: SAKS
  • Belt: Anthropologie
  • Tights: The Limited
  • Shoes: Boutique in Cleveland (the brand is Lovely People)

Next up – my coziest outfit of the week. My grandma made this awesome, lounge-y sweater. It was SCREAMING my name on a frigid morning, so I dressed it up with a belt and called it a day.

In the mix:

  • Sweater: Grandma (handknit!)
  • Turtleneck: The Limited
  • Skirt: Cannot remember
  • Boots: Frye
  • Belt: Nordstrom rack (can’t remember the designer, though!)

In fashion news: I was devastated to hear that Alexander McQeen died yesterday. He was so amazingly talented with such a powerful vision. His legend will live on in his amazingly creative designs. Sending prayers to his family and friends…

That’s all kids, I gotta run! I’ll be back later with the Daily Delish ;)
