Daily Delish – The good kind of “muffin top”

This morning I took some of my own advice and had a delightful snack! Pumpkin Muffin spread with CREAM CHEESE

Have you ever head the pleasure of enjoying pumpkin cheesecake? Yeah, it’s kinda like that.

You should make these muffins just so you can enjoy this flavor combo. Now if only I still had some Cacao Bliss left, as I’m sure that would make a decadent treat, as well!

What is your favorite “muffin top”per?

I’m getting my hair cut tonight – gaaaahhhhh – it always makes me a little nervous! I don’t think I’ve ever recovered from the mullet my mom gave me when I was little.

Daily Delish – The perfect sandwich

I have created something that will change the world of sandwiches. I call it: Perfect

To make your own: grill your favorite chicken sausage – I used spinach and feta!

Pull out an Arnold Sandwich Thin/Deli Flat. Put one slice of mozzarella cheese on each half of the bread.

In the middle, place the sausages and add some sundried tomatoes and marinated artichokes.

Then PRESS! aka – put into your sandwich press or pan fry.

What ingredients go into your favorite sandwich?

Daily Delish – when cheating feels too good

I CHEATED.

Remember my lenten commitment? Well, I tried not to think about it as I was stuffing my face with THIS:

Yes, that is my beloved za.

Before you start casting your judgements, let me EXPLAIN!

The Mister and I had BIG news to celebrate! He made some amazing achievements professionally and I am so incredibly proud of him. He wanted a za, and how could I possibly let down this charming smile?

This photo is more than 5 years old, but I love it ;)

How are you guys doing on your lent commitments? Any other cheaters to join me in my corner of shame?

Daily Delish: What’s the BEST breakfast joint in your city?

I went out to breakfast with my family a few weeks ago (don’t worry it was before lent!).

You all know how high breakfast ranks on my list, and I always enjoy trying new places. So I convinced my family to go to Scrambler Marie’s, a fairly new place in town. Scrambler Marie’s has about 5 other locations, throughout Ohio.

From the restaurant’s website:

Scrambler Maries’ is a family owned restaurant concept open from 6:30am to 3:00pm every day. It was begun in 1990 by Shain and Phil Buerk of Toledo, Ohio at its original location which continues to operate today on Secor Road. Because it is a family business most of the Buerk family has been involved in the operation at some time. Even Phil’s wife and Shain’s Mom Deby Marie continues to hostess in the restaurants. The recipes for the original menu which remains relatively unchanged came from Phil’s background in the food service industry as a multiple unit Wendy’s franchisee; Shain’s experience in the breakfast business; and advice and suggestions from all of the family whose names the menu carries.

How cool is it that this place is TRULY family owned and operated? These types of places are always the best (in my experience), yet they rarely get the press and recognition. Let’s do somehting about that.

Please leave a comment telling me where you live and your favorite breakfast spot(s)! Now I’ll know where to go to breakfast when I’m traveling ;)

Cleveland’s BEST: Original Pancake House, Lucky’s, First Watch (I know it’s a chain, but it’s a small one!), Chicago Deli, The Inn on Coventry and Scrambler Marie’s

Check out that delectable egg white omlette filled with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes and swiss cheese. Served with SALSA, of course!

Daily Delish – Guacamole and mind control

I’m about to commit a blogging FELONY. I am about to KNOWINGLY post a terrible photo. I know it is a terrible photo. I do not need to be told it’s a terrible photo, nor do I think you won’t notice it’s a terrible photo. Let’s just get that out of the way now.

Phew! Moving on…

Here’s the most delicious thing I have eaten all week (prepare yourselves for the aforementioned photo):

BAM!

Now that wasn’t SO bad, was it? Are your eyes still in tact? No blood? Phew! See by making you believe the photo was FAR WORSE than it actually is, it doesn’t look too bad, does it? HA! Consider yourself foiled! Me= mind control genius ;)

This sandwich was so incredibly simple but so undeniably delicious. Since the photo is just so terrible, I’ll break it down for you.

  • 1 bagel (I used 100% whole wheat — the entire bagel was actually less than 200 cals!)
  • 1 vine tomato
  • 1/2 (maybe a lil more?!) avocado
  • pinch of salt

Simply toast the bagel, mash the ‘cado (it’s what the cool kids are saying, get on board) and spread on bagel, top with sliced tomato and season with a bit of salt. My aunt (foodie guru) swears by adding a bit of balsamic, as well, but I didn’t have any — NEXT TIME! As if I needed a reason to make this again!

Is my love of guac/avocado becoming a problem? I didn’t think so…

How do you like to show your love for this marvelous fruit? Yes folks, it IS a fruit.
