Toddler snacking on-the-go

As a mama always trying to expose my little Mister to the world around him, we aren’t ones to just sit at home. This means having to be prepared. Like making sure we have enough diapers and wipes so we don’t have to use wet paper towels. or a spare shirt. And packing my bag to the brim with snacks and mini-meals to fuel us on our adventures and make sure Bean has something healthy and nutritious to eat — no matter where it is we may end up. You know, CONVENIENT foods. But convenient doesn’t mean unhealthy. And it certainly doesn’t mean tasteless. Not that I would know anything about eating a half bag of bunny crackers in desperation or anything. I digress.

Here are our favorites:

Gerber Organic Purees — I choose the ones with veggies mixed in – like the apples, blueberries and spinach variety.

Stonyfield’s yotoddler – again, I try and choose the flavors with veggies mixed in, like banana pumpkin. We recently purchased the apple and sweet potato flavor, as well!

Fruit! Super easy to throw a banana, peach or apple into my bag along with a plastic knife to cut it up on the go.

Sawyer’s new obsession – Bagels! I pick up whole wheat or blueberry from the local bagel shop. I think the “rougher” bites have been helping his teeth feel a little better lately.

Cheddar crackers – like Earth’s Best or Annie’s

String cheese

Roasted Turkey – I throw a few pieces into a zip lock bag and we are on our way

Certainly we rely on other staples and are always trying new foods, but there are Bean’s favorite on-the-go fixins and always make it into my shopping cart.

What are you on-the-go meals and snacks?

  1. I love it when convenience and nutrition collide! My favorite go-to snacks are Kellogg’s FiberPlus cereals and snack bars – simple, yet tasty ways to get a little extra boost of fiber.
