I don’t regularly use my blog to solicit donations for races, charity drives or any personal fundraising.
But based on what’s currently happening in this world, I feel I have to take a little responsibility and use this blog as a platform to accomplish a little bit of good.
One of the worst humanitarian crises of our generation is happening RIGHT NOW.
Please consider making a donation to Doctors Without Borders. They are on the ground in Kenya providing life-saving medical attention AND desperately needed nutrition for Somali refugees.
People are starving to death.
Mothers are carrying their children for a hundred miles along a treacherous path trying to get them to refugee camps.
Many are not making it.
At times like these we often feel completely helpless as we sit in our air-conditioned homes and eat our lunches.
But we can do something.
One $35 donation can provide 200 children with 2 high-energy meals per day.
Pass it along.
The Weather has been so unbearably HUMID this week that I’ve left the house feeling disgusting every. single. morning. feeling disgusting = not wanting to have photo taken = no fashion Friday.
Sorry kids, I’ll get my act together next week — provided the humidity cooperates. All I’m gonna say (and some may hate on me for this) is that I cannot WAIT for Fall – cozy sweaters, cool walks, PUMPKIN, colorful leaves, coffee on the porch- why can’t it last for 6 months?
Anyway, I’m pleased to report that the Mister and I have minimal plans this weekend, aside from church and a graduation party on Sunday. Amen. I’m looking forward to relaxing and having the whole day Saturday to ourselves – I’d really love if the weather cooled down and we could take Bean to the park. But enough about me — what are all of YOU up to this weekend? I’m pretty confident much of mine will be spent on the porch

What’s number one your priority list after bringing your newborn home from the hospital? A Gucci bomber jacket? Tod’s driving mocs (because you know, babies have so many places to DRIVE)? A Missoni original cardigan? Obviously. Check out this video of Rachel Zoe showing off her son Skyler’s closet. Sorry Bean, Mommy missed the memo.
But even in the “big time” clothes, Skyler’s got nothin’ on you, babe.

HAPPY FRIDAY!
Remember when I told you to make sure you held onto your extra tomato, corn and black bean salsa? You did that, right? Please say yes.
Then you are ready for my taco turkey burgers! If your answer was no, whip some more up!
You’ll need (serves two):
- ground turkey (I used 1/2 lb for two servings)
- leftover corn, tomato and black bean salsa
- taco seasoning
- buns of choice
- cheese of choice

Take 1/4 lb of meat and add taco seasoning and as much or as little of the salsa. Form into a patty. Repeat for as many patties you need.

Pan-fry for about 3 minutes on each side. Choose your favorite bun and top with cheese.

Chow down.

Now who said leftovers weren’t fun?
