Fashion Friday – Royal Fashions

Happy Friday!

And for those of you who’ve turned on a TV within the past few hours — Happy ROYAL WEDDING Day! I must say, I wasn’t initially interested, but Bean and I started watching the coverage at 4 am and got sucked right in!

And you didn’t think we’d get to Fashion Friday without talking wedding fashion, did you?!

Phew!

All week we’ve been hearing about THE DRESS. Which designer would Kate choose? Would she go traditional or moden? Maybe high fashion?!

The gown was designed by Sara Burton of Alexander McQueen and showcased a two-meter, 70-centimeter train. Apparently, the wedding dress was made by hand. The Tiara was on loan from the Queen (who didn’t look to shabby, herself!).

Stunning.

This is exactly what I expect from a Royal Wedding Bride. I love that it’s understatedly elegant, while still being figure flattering. She looks radiant. I ADORE the sleeves.

What do you think? Did the dress live up to the hype? (as a side note, I thought it EXTREMELY inappropriate that her sister was wearing a long WHITE gown – am I being too hard on her?)

Here I am with my own little prince, in one of this week’s favorite outfits.

Prince Bean is wearing a GAP outfit with tennis-shoe styles socks in lime green — he needed a pop of color ;)

He’s also sporting his “i’m-too-cool-for-school” yawn. Well excuuuuuuuuuse me! Someone’s feeling a bit too regal for his own good, no?

When in doubt, just go to bed…

I haven’t wanted to say much about this on the blog yet in fear of cursing myself, but it’s been a few weeks, so here goes…

Bean sleeps at least 8 hours without waking at night.

I know, several mothers want to kill me.

And I’m OK with that.

A few weeks ago, the Mister and I noticed that bean started getting pretty sleepy around 6:30/7:00. I nurse him one final time between the 6:30-8:00 time frame and he is down for the night — at least 8 hours, sometimes more. He’ll typically wake back up around 3 or 4 (although the other night he lasted till 5!) and I’ll nurse him again, sending him back to sleep for another 3-4 hours.

Praise. The. Lord.

Now, before you start hating me too much, this miracle does come with it’s own set of issues.

I am TERRIFED of messing up his schedule. From what I’ve heard, some babies take months (even years!) to be able to sleep this well. I’m certainly not about to do ANYTHING that might mess with a good thing.

Like put him in the stroller and go for an evening walk…

or pile him in the car for a late night ice cream treat…

or bundle him up to sleep quietly while Daddy and I dine at a restaurant…

see where I’m going with this? After 7:00, Bean calls the shots and for the most part, we’re stuck at home.

Instead of letting it bother us (we’d be insane to let it!), we’ve been heading up to bed early to watch TV, cuddle, and get some much-needed shut-eye.

Good thing I’m a homebody. Next thing you know, We’re going to turn into one of those couples who spends their evenings on the porch watching everyone else and sipping tea. Don’t tell the Mister, but … I can’t wait ;)

Thankful Thursday

Thankful

Good morning!

Sorry for not posting yesterday — but it was a Mommy + Bean day and taking even a few minutes away from my little man seems like I’m wasting precious time. But from now on, I’ll plan on writing and scheduling my “work it” posts ahead of time – I promise!

Anyway, the little Mister and I had a wonderful day yesterday filled with long walks and lots of smiles. Being a Mommy really is so much fun ;)

But now it’s time to get back to work – before I do, let’s all take a bit of time and reflect back on the week. What made you smile? When did you feel especially proud of yourself? Tell me!

This week, I’m thankful for…

My morning coffee

A break from the rain (even though it’s coming back today!)

My front porch

The blooming flowers

Our upcoming CAMPING TRIP! (can’t wait to share!)

A/C

That I have a workplace that grants me flexibility and more time with my little man

The Mister’s excitement for the NFL draft – it’s adorable ;)

That I’ve been able to squeeze in my arm workouts this week

Our upcoming weekend! We have a wedding and OVERNIGHT stay at a lovely hotel ;)

Fresh strawberries

What are you thankful for this week?
