Daily Delish – Beverly Hills Grill

Daily Delish

Finally! The long awaited drool-worthy photos from the first of the Mister’s birthday meals. One of my favorite things to do when visiting a new area is scoping out the eats! The Mister and I (read: ME) conducted thorough research leading up to the trip to find the perfect spot. We both decided upon Beverly Hills Grill.

From the website:

The Beverly Hills Grill serves fresh, contemporary American food at Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner – 7 days a week. The Grill serves nearly 3,000 guests each week on only 80 seats.

Established in 1988, the Grill is celebrating its 21st year of operation.  BHG continues to be recognized by the media for its quality and consistency.  The Detroit Free Press chose BHG as their 2007 Restaurant of the Year.  Hour Magazine has acknowledged the Grill as “Best Brunch” from 2005 thru 2008.  The Zagat Survey has rated Beverly Hills Grill in their 2008 Top Detroit Restaurants.

The Grill does not accept reservations.

The Grill does not accept reservations. Come again? THE GRILL DOES NOT ACCEPT RESERVATIONS. Just to be perfectly clear, in case you were wondering, the Grill does not accept reservations. UGH! As annoying as it was to wait, it certainly made us feel like we weren’t wasting our time as we scanned all the awards and accolades adorning the walls. I was just hoping that 1, my stomach wouldn’t dissolve itself, 2. I wasn’t making my baby hate me and 3, the Mister would still talk to me by the time we sat down.

Once seated and presented with fresh bread, all was forgiven.

It may not look like much, but quite simply put, this rolls are balls of crack.

After scanning the menu and annoying the Mister with my indecisiveness, I had the waitress help me finally decide on the PESTO BUTTERED SEA SCALLOPS, which were served with artichokes, shiitakes, blistered tomatoes and redskins.

If there is a heaven it’s a big vat of pesto butter that I bathe in daily, licking myself clean like a baby kitten. Too far? Never!

The Mister ordered the JAMAICAN JERK PORK “OSSO BUCO,” which was served with mango corn salsa and smashed sweet potatoes.

I may have eaten more than half of the sweet potatoes. You know, for the BABY.

Behold the featured dessert, peach and raspberry cobbler. Forgive me for sharing a partially eaten version in the photo, sometimes I forget about the fact that I’m supposed to take photos of food BEFORE I eat them. But you look at this thing and tell me you’d be able to stay focused. Basically, I had to “claim” my share before the sneaky Mister could get a bite in edgewise. I’m so considerate.

All in all, this was a wonderful way to kick of the Mister’s Birthday weekend and unwind before the Great Steak Challenge. A fellow competitor, Curt, put together a fantastic recap of the event with some incredible photos and action shots (and his delicious looking recipe!). Check it out if you are interested – you’ll even see the Mister and I looking especially cute and cheesey ;)
