Daily Delish – Melonhead

Daily Delish

I am ALL ABOUT the melon lately. While the true mark of summer is a big, juicy bite from a WATERMELON, I’ve been enjoying my fair of cantaloupe lately.

Not that I’m complaining ;)

Ah, cantaloupe…so delish! Nature’s perfect bowl. Just cut it in half and fill accordingly — cottage cheese, yogurt, ice cream – so many options!

The one melon I can’t stand?  honeydew! ACK! I’ll tolerate it if it’s in a fruit salad, but I would never voluntarily eat it. ever.

Where do you stand on melons? Love ‘em all? Hate ‘em all? Play favorites?

Melon is actually the one fruit that I don’t LOVE. I’ll eat it, but I would prefer a good banana or slab of pineapple any day :)

My wife’s name is Maryellen. She’s an RN and signs all her charts M.ellen, so she’s gained the nick-name “Melon.” So… I love Melon too!

Love ‘em all! I actually used to love honeydew melon more than canteloupe but my taste buds have changed their minds. =)

  6. HATE HATE HATE them…..actually it is one of the few things (food wise) that I can’t stand!!!

  7. I am a cantalope freak!!! :) Love it!!

  8. I love all melons, but cantaloupe is definitely my favorite! Love it filled with cottage cheese, like you said. :)

I love ALL sort of melons! It only really bothers me when it’s not quite… ripe, I guess? You know when you get pieces of cantaloupe that aren’t as intensely orange and sort of see-through and watery? I think those are the pieces close to the peel, but I don’t like it when I get those pieces cos they’re tasteless.

The parts closest to the seeds are sweetest and yummiest! :D

I LIKE some melons, particularly watermelon and cantaloupe, but I wouldn’t say that I LOVE them.

A tasty breakfast, though, is to take 1/2 cantaloupe, scoop out some of the insides, and then fill the “bowl” (1/2 cantaloupe shell) with the cantaloupe chunks, plus a variety of mixed fruit (I like berries, apple chunks, and banana slices), as well as some granola. Tasty! Bet it would be really delicious with a dollop of yogurt/whipped cream or a splash of milk. Or maybe some nut butter. Mmmm melons!

I love melons and how they remind me of summer. Cantaloupe is my favorite, with watermelon a close second. Honeydew is okay, but like you, I prefer it as part of a fruit salad.

I second the honeydew. My husband gets mad because I am so appaled by it that I refuse to call it by its name and instead refer to it as “green stuff”

mmmm…I love ALL melon. I fully considered bringing home a watermelon yesterday, which is a huge commitment because I walk to and from the grocery store!

I’m the exact opposite with melons! I love honeydew, and the cantelope? I can do without.

I love cantaloupe – I just bought one and cannot wait to eat half of it for breakfast tomorrow! For some reasons I avoided all melon for years. I think it was a texture thing, and an eating-when-not-ripe thing. Perfectly ripened melon is amazing. I was missing out for too long!

  16. Love honeydew. Cantaloupe, not so much.
We should get together and trade!

  17. LOVE melons! I don’t discriminate among types :) I love them all!
