30 seconds to mars

Good morning, friends! How was everyone’s weekend?! I have a pretty incredible dining experience to share with you — as well as a BIG announcement, but first — the concert!

The Mister and I headed out for Detroit late Saturday afternoon. The concert was at The Fillmore – a really cool venue!

The Mister and I took our seats in the balcony — no MOSH PITS for us! Getting a swift kick to the jaw just didn’t sound that appealing. The opening band took the stage and the Mister and I were both SO HAPPY we got their early enough to see them. We loved them so much that we actually purchased the album on our iPhone RIGHT THERE on the spot. We were both saying how CRAZY it is that technology even makes this possible! We both remember downloading songs of Napster when we were younger and each file taking an HOUR to load — who would have thought that eventually you’d be able to hear a band at a concert– download their CD to your phone and listen to it on the way home. Craziness. The band is called Neon Trees and they will rock your socks off. Give ‘em a listen.

Between sets, the Mister and I had some fun with the camera…

He started off a lil camera shy.

But eventually we got some good pics ;)

When the lights dimmed the crowd went CrAzY!

30 seconds to mars was INCREDIBLE! Jared Leto is such an amazing performer. The Mister and I were both surprised how many notes he could hit live.

At the end of the show, he pulled some people from the audience up on the stage! It was at this point that I was damning myself for NOT being in the mosh pit! Oh well, at least I have all my teeth ;)

‘Twas excellent. The Mister and I had a long, tired drive home (he had his first cup of coffee! – OH HOW I WISH I took a pic, as his face was priceless (he HATED it- then again, he also had it BLACK).

Phew! I hope you enjoyed all those photos!

Now for the announcement.

The Mister and I are…….

DOING P90X!

We have been feeling in a bit of a slump lately and what better way to kick things up a notch! We did the first workout this morning and O….M….G.

Before I get into all the details, how much are you guys actually interested in hearing more about this? Want little re-caps of each workout? Or do you just want a full re-cap at the end of the 90 days? Or do you not want to hear about it at all? I know several of you are interested in P90X or have possibly considered doing it yourself! (or maybe you already have!)

Let me know just how much interest you have and what you want to be kept in the loop about!

I’ll be back later with my fun dining experience and a DELICIOUS new recipe!

  1. Ohhh, Jared Leto. You’ll always be Jordan Catelano to me :-)

Looks like a great night! Can’t wait to read more about your experience with p90x!

It’s official: you have the best hair in the entire Great Lakes region.

I think at least you should do a 30 day check in, like they show during the infomercials. I’ve wanted to try it, so I’m looking forward to your thoughts on the product. Have fun!

Love Jared Leto. That venue looks so awesome.

I would love to hear about P90X and what you think about it. My Sister offered to send it to me but I am not sure.

  5. I LOVE 30 Seconds to Mars (and Neon Trees is pretty great too), but some how I had absolutely no idea it was Jared Leto’s band until this morning! I was reading the paper this morning, and there was a quick blurb about Jared Leto throing an opening pitch at a Cubs. I had no idea!

I think check-in posts every week or two. Maybe a recap of a specific workout if it highlights something exceptional about the program. My future SIL was doing it for a while, but I think she gave up.

I’m very disappointed that you were not in the mosh pit-haha.

  7. you guys are too cute…i love when people have pictures of themselves with their hubby :)

  8. I’m doing P90X now (just finished a workout actually) and I honestly have mixed feelings on it. Please email if you want to chat about it more (I would love to!) but basically, for my husband and I, it was great at the beginning – except now we’re starting to get burned out. We’re busy people, and 1.25-1.5 hours a day is a lot, and has totally eaten up any other time we used to do things like go on jogs, hikes or walks together. The program is great for improving strength though, although I have not seen any weight loss as a result of it, and we’re in phase 3 now (although you definitely don’t need to worry about weight loss!). I have heard that in order to truly see results, you have to follow the nutrition plan to a T, which we didn’t this time, because I was still a vegan when we started. We’ll probably do another round in the future, and I may try it with the nutrition plan then.

It’s also a really balanced plan – three days of strength, three days of abs, one day yoga, two days cardio (although the plyometrics has really irritated a lingering foot injury for me). You do have a weekly rest day, and a recovery week, which there is no strength involved.

Also – I don’t know if you’re big into yoga, but at least for me (and other yogis I’ve talked to) Tony Horton’s “yoga” isn’t quite the same yoga experience you’d normally get. It’s still a little “X”-ish lol.

One word of advice though, be careful of how much you mention P90X because some of the independent beachbody coaches are like vultures, and scour blogs and twitter for the slightest mention of P90X. I was doing weekly recaps and that’s actually why I’m not anymore – when I did and when I mentioned a workout, I seriously would get a couple emails, multiple comments and tweets a day from coaches wanting me to sign up as a coach under them (which in the long run, gives them a better coach standing and more income), and I even had several coaches leave comments, trying to recruit my readers on my posts depicting my hardwork, to go join their team. It got old, fast.

Anyway, sorry for leaving a book, please feel free to email to chat more about it! xoxo!

30 seconds to mars! Crazy story about them. We went to a concert once about 3 years ago where 30 seconds to mars was headlining. it was a small venue and the opening act was good so we stuck out the table where you could buy their cd and my friend actually really hit it off with the lead singer. they talked for about 4 hours and then they had to leave. They kept in touch over text message for the next 6-8months. And then she flew to see him…and then he flew to see her…and t hen she moved to where he was—and now they are married! crazy huh!

I am interested in hearing about your experience with P90X, but I’m even more interested in hearing about the maintenance plan and the nutrition plan (both during and after the program). It seems like a great program for getting into tip-top shape, but I’m skeptical of the ability to keep it going without getting burnt out. Wouldn’t you get sick of those same workouts?
