Daily Delish – Super crunchy cinnamon churros

Did you guys go to one of the cool schools that served cinnamon churros? Were you one of the rugrats that scrambled/ran/got trampled on (ahem, ME!) to get in line to make sure you got one? If so, you are going to LOVE this post.

I never really glommed on to the whole CHURRO movement. Fried dough with lots of sugar? no thanks. Now, if you had some type of FROSTING to dunk it in, that’d be another story. I recall many nights in college where the Mister and I would share I would eat a whole box of Pizza Hut cinnamon sticks, but I digress.

Where were we? Oh yes, cinnamon goodness! For all you cinnamon/sugar lovers out there, I have a HEALTHY option for you.

Another goodie from Kay’s Naturals, these pretzel sticks pack in 10 grams of protein!

Check out that suga! This bag held a good portion of these, babies, too! While I normally finish snack bags in about 30 seconds flat, this one lasted me at least 5 minutes. I think it helped that they were super crunchy — so fun to eat!

I’m not going to lie, I totally shook the bag over my face to gobble up every last drop of cinnamon sugary goodness. The sugar I got in my eye? Just the small price you pay for deliciousness.

What’s your favorite cinnamon treat? Were you a churro kid?

Fashion Friday – Is it a shirt? a dress? Who cares, it’s cute ;)

Happy Friday!

Another busy Friday, so let’s get right to it! This week’s theme? SHIRTDRESSES! Versatile, stylish AND comfortable, you cannot go wrong with a shirtdress. Just make sure to watch the fit! If it’s a boxy or larger shirt, pair it with a belt so you don’t loose your waist!

GAH! That lighting is horrid - I look deathly!

In the mix:

Jacket and shirtdress: Boutique in Chagrin Falls – my amazing mama bought this outfit for me last weekend – she knows me too well!

Boots: Calvin Klein

Another shirtdress!

In the mix:

Pink shirtdress: Allen B

Striped tank: Michael Stars

Jeans: Elie Tahari

Ankle boots: Jeffrey Campbell

What is everyone up to tonight? Any fun plans?

Thankful Thursday – #HappyinCLE

I’ve been wanting to address this issue on the blog for awhile now. For those of you who haven’t heard — Forbes.com gave the middle finger to my HOMETOWN. Not cool, Forbes, not cool.

So, I’m giving it right back to them.

This week, I’m thankful for Cleveland.

My reasons? I’m so glad you asked.

1.) THE FOOD! Home to Michael Symon (among many other ‘greats’), I’m constantly redefining my new list of favorites. Which include: TAZA, Melange, L’Albatros, Marottas, NAYA, Michaelangelos, Momocho - the list goes ON

2.) LEBRON! Need I say more?

3.) PlayhouseSquare – which is second in the country to NYC (seriously) – I’ll be there tonight for the Lexus Style Show!

4.) The Cleveland Art Museum

5.) The Cleveland Zoo

6.) Cleveland sports fans, and the fact that we NEVER give up

7.) The Cleveland Metroparks

8.) Because it’s home to Malley’s Chocolate, GREAT LAKES CHRISTMAS ALE

9.) Because Cleveland ROCKS! (thanks, Drew Carey ;) )

Need more reasons — check this baby out!

Why are you thankful for YOUR city?

Daily Delish – Breakfast with G Love and the Special Sauce

After getting a delicious goodie package from Kay’s Naturals last night, I’ve had cereal on the brain. So much so that I’ve been incessantly humming that “milk and cereal” song. You know the one – “Milk and cereal, milk and cereal, cereal and milk cereal and milk!”

I think G Love would be super proud of the harmonies I’ve been trying to make with all my other multi-personalities. The Mister on the other hand? not.a.fan.

Anyway, knowing that I had a full carton of strawberries in the fridge, I picked a cereal I thought would complement some sweet strawberry goodness: French Vanilla Protein Cereal

Protein cereal, huh? Yea, I too was skeptical.

This was delicious! And so CRUNCHY! Which says a lot, by the way. You foodies out there might relate to the fact that I took MULTIPLE pictures of this bowl of goodness, all while my cereal was soaking in milk. Luckily Kay made her “O’s” extra crunchy because they were perfect at first bite! Very light in texture and the vanilla flavoring was the perfect undertone for my sweet strawberries! I also loved that I was able to enjoy this breakfast and still fuel my body with some MUCH needed protein (level 3 of the SHRED this morning!)

I can’t wait to try the other goodies!

What is your favorite cereal? How do you eat it? With yogurt? Milk? Banana? Strawberries? I actually know someone who eats hers with ORANGE JUICE! — any other weirdos like that out there?

YAY!

Just wanted to let everyone know that my NEW CAMERA arrived today!

That means no more icky pictures! The Daily Balance will be back and running to its former glory.

For those of you who care/remember, I’m simply getting the same camera I had before I LOST IT.

Thanks for all your patience/toleration of sub-par photos.

Next time you see me, I’ll be smiling at you through my new lens (I know you are all just TREMBLING with anticipation)

REMINDER FOR CLEVELANDERS:

Tomorrow is the Lexus Style Show! My friend Jenn (you may know her as sushi queen) and I will be attending – hope to see some of you there!
