Try it – the long-awaited CARAMEL Oikos!

Try It

I fouuuund it! (name the movie!)

Yes, after weeks of letting jealousy and resentment build up inside me as I watched some of my favorite bloggers stuff their pretty faces with caramel delights, I finally found some of my own Caramel Oikos ;)

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of Oikos, so when I heard they had sweet dessert-like flavors out on the market, I just HAD to get my hands on them.

While I wasn’t able to find the chocolate flavor, I did spot the caramel this past weekend. Of course, the Mister got into them before I did, but THIS time, he was scared of my wrath gracious enough to leave me one (that’s my love!).

Now, let me just say right off the bat that I AM NOT a fan of the trickery that yoplait so often commits.

For example: Cinnamon Roll. Really? REALLY, Yoplait? I really hope your cinnamon rolls don’t taste like the “tangy, artificial tasting goop overdose don cinnamon” that you push at the grocery store. If so, you need to get to a Cinnabon right away, like NOW – because you’ve been deprived. And the blueberry cobbler? Don’t get me started. I’m all for making healthy swaps, but please, let’s be real – it tastes like feet — with lots of sugar sprinkled on top.

Needless to say, dessert flavored yogurts don’thave the best track record with me. Nevertheless, I was still pretty jazzed to try the caramel Oikos ;)

It did NOT disappoint.

I think the reason Oikos is able to pull off these flavors is because it is so much creamier than standard yogurt, and the yogurt base is natural in it’s flavor, instead of overpowered by artifical tasting sweetner. As far as sugar in yogurt goes, I really believe less is more (and yes, the queen of frosting actually just said that).

Oikos creates a perfect balance with its rich and creamy yogurt and gooey, sweet caramel. And you know me, I kinda dig balance ;)

Now if only I could get my hands on the CHOCOLATE!

Have you tried Oikos caramel or chocolate yogurt? What are your favorite yogurt flavors?

ah aren’t you in love? I was heavily dissapointed by the chocolate but caramel is divine!

  2. I have not tried either of those flavors (YET). I typically stick to the plain version and add in cinnamon, blueberries, and stevia. The caramel looks so sinful! Thanks for your review. Now I am going to HAVE to go get some ;-)

  3. Now I definitely want to try it!!! I HATE those fake “pie/dessert” flavors of fat free yogurt– don’t piss on my leg and tell me it’s raining, Yoplait!!

Ok, I love Oikos and I love caramel soooo I will probably LOVE this. Thanks for the heads up!!

I’m a HUGE fan of So Delicious coconut milk yogurt – I try to avoid dairy (but the occasional Greek yog makes it into my diet) – and I am pretty sure yogurt+cereal is the ultimate in breakfast/anytime combos.

Ohhh, I didn’t even know they had that flavor out! I don’t think I’d like Chocolate flavored Greek yogurt, but I bet the Caramel is great…gonna have to try that!!

  6. i just saw those at the store yesterday but couldn’t justify spending the $$$ right then…now I know it’s worth it!

  7. Oooo thanks for the review! I can’t wait to check it out! And you’re so right that Yoplait has no clue what a cinnamon roll even tastes like!

Blech! Yoplait and Danon really need to step up heir yogurt game, you’re right. Once you’ve tasted Greek, it’s hard to go back. I’d love to try the new oikos flavors, especially the chocolate, but honestly I’m more of a plain yogurt girl.

The only Oikos I’ve tried is strawberry and I was not a fan. Maybe it’s just the texture, who knows?!

I really need to try these. They look delicious. I have yet to find them though. Sadness. I agree with you on the “flavored” yogurt craze. What is up with the weirdness? I don’t like most of them either.

I’ve seen both the caramel and the chocolate before, but never picked them up… Now I must! Thanks for motivating me!

  12. Ooh, where did you find it? I’m having trouble tracking it down. Looks so good.

Feet! HAHAHA! That is so funny.
I was wondering if the caramel oikos would be good since it is 0% fat, but upon your recommendation I will try it. I finally spotted it at our grocery store last week.

I haven’t gotten a chance to try the new flavors yet, but they look delicious! I really love orange-flavored yogurts, but they’re hard to find!

I have not heard of Oikos before I started reading blogs. I am definately going to keep my eyes open for it.

I actually don’t know if I would like these. I normally don’t eat yogurt plain, and I can’t really imagine caramel yogurt with anything mixed into it. On the other hand, I might like it plain if it tastes like caramel! I’ll have to watch out for it, but Louisiana doesn’t have a very big greek yogurt market so who knows if it will make it down here.

awesome!! so jealous you found them but I’m glad they are living up to their reputation! I’m personally an oikos fan as well, but I just tried TJ’s plain yogurt and I love that stuff too! maybe I just love all flavors….

I just made coconut yogurt and loved it — perhaps a caramel topping is my next challenge!

I’m dying to try both the caramel and the chocolate, but I haven’t seen either.

I agree about the yoplait flavors. They taste fake and they fluorescent in color!

  26. So glad you liked it!! I found both the Caramel and the Chocolate randomly in the store last week and I literally squealed with delight right there.. haha earning me some strange looks I’ll tell you. So good!!! I’ve tried both but I like the Caramel best. It’s especially good if you pop it in the freezer for a couple hours… heavenly!

  27. I would love to try Oikos, but I can’t find it anywhere near my city. :-(

Personally, I would love to try the Pumpkin Stonyfield, but I’m sure that caramel yogurt would rock!

That’s nice of your hubby to leave you one. :-)
