Daily Delish – Sweet and Creamy = 100% compatible

Daily Delish

Remember those goofy quizzes we used to take in middle-school? Each year, around Valentines Day a company would come into the school during out lunch hour and administer a “match-making test.” Looking back on it now, I acknowledge the utter ridiculousness of this, but at the time, Everyone was pretty psyched about the results. Anyway, you’d take the test and then a week later you’d pay like $5 to get your results. Everyone always wanted to be match up with one of the “cool guys,” but I remember looking at my sheet in HORROR — seeing that I got a few of the nerds. I had nothing in common with 14-year-old jocks! Shocking, I know!  But at the time, this was devastating.

Well if foods went to Junior High (and who says they don’t?!), Miss Sweet Potato and Mr. Cottage (Cheese) would have a 100% compatibility rating.

After seeing this combination on a few web sites, I finally took the plunge last night (against all my hesitations) and made a baked sweet potato with cinnamon and Fiber One cottage cheese.

I fear that any description would only ruin it and not do this deliciousness the justice it deserves. You are going to have to take my word for it. I know it sounds odd — almost gag-worthy, no? Just trust me on this one.

Have you tried the combination? Are there any other “perfect match” foods that might seem odd, but taste delicious? SHARE!

  1. There is a dip called Ugly Dip. It looks seriously disgusting, but it is good. Just combine equal parts cottage cheese and salsa. It looks like throw up, but it is really good!

Oh, I’ve DEFINITELY tried this. So good. I also like sweet potatoes with Greek yogurt and honey, or with almond butter. Cinnamon is always a good call, though.

Another combination that CANNOT be beat is cinnamon raisin toast (or any kind of carb) with cream cheese.

I have tried and tried to like cottage cheese but just cant bring myself to like it! Its definately a texture thing and the fact that it brings back memories of my dog eating it when he refused to eat anything else every time my Grandma went out of town for more than a day. Stupid dog. Although I can see where all Ya’ll would find it yummy I think I’ll take a pass.

I do eat sweet potatoes with almost everything else in the fridge though. Apple butter being my favorite.

This is a definite winner in my book as well–it’s also really good with rice pudding instead of cottage cheese for a bit more savory flavor!
