Daily Delish – Charlize Theron and GLO BARS

You know that J’adore commercial where Charlize Theron makes you feel like an awkward 14-year-old? Because she’s SO incredibly, unattainably sexy? I don’t think I could be that sexy if I had round-the-clock lessons and a new set of ankles — I tend to trip…a lot. That little necklace she throws to the ground? Yeah, I’d trip over the beads. If I could just have the sexiness she carries in the TIP OF HER PINKY finger my life might be a little different…but I digress.

But even though I can’t strut like Charlize, I can still FEEL like Charlize. How? I’m so glad you asked!

Created by the ever-so-talented Angela, own of Glo Bakery (and blogger behind Oh She Glows), these little babies can make anyone feel sexy. Some of you look confused. Let me break it down for you…

From the Glo Bakery website:

Do you dream of mouth-watering S’mores roasted over the campfire? Well, now you can enjoy one in a delicious Glo Bar- and it’s vegan to boot! Roasted vegan marshmallows, handmade chunky vegan graham crackers, dark chocolate, and cacao nibs come together to create a Glo Bar filled with love and adoration.

Ingredients: Oats, brown rice syrup, chunky homemade graham crackers (spelt, water, sucanat, canola oil, agave, cinnamon, vanilla, salt, baking powder), natural peanut butter, non-dairy dark chocolate, vegan marshmallows (corn syrup, beet sugar, corn starch, corn dextrose, carrageenan, soy protein, vanilla flavor, titanium dioxide, salt), crisp rice cereal, flax seed, cacao nibs, pure vanilla extract.

Homemade graham crackers? Dark chcolate? MARSHMELLOWS? Now just try and look me square in the eye and tell me marshmallows aren’t sexy. I DARE YOU! And did I mention each glo bar is wholesome and healthy? So you won’t just feel sexy, you’ll look it.

These bars really do taste as good as they sound (and look!). I love that they are soft and practically melt in your mouth. The pillowy marshmallows are making my mouth watering just thinking about ‘em! With each bite, you feel more and more of the love. I’m tellin’ you, they are definitely the most delicious way to feel sexy. I urge you all to buy some — you won’t regret it!

If you need, me, I’ll be practicing my strut.

What foods make you feel sexy?

Fashion Friday

The snow has returned with a vengeance! I guess Father Winter isn’t ready to pass the torch — so scratch what I said yesterday about “spring being right around the corner!” I now feel like the town idiot ;)

I have a lot to get to today, so let’s dive right in, shall we?

In the mix:

  • Scarf – I am mildly obsessed with this odd color! – NORDSTROM
  • Navy cardigan – SAKS
  • Blouse – The Limited
  • Gauchos – T.J. Maxx
  • Necklace – SAKS

In the mix:

  • Green sweater – Anthropologie
  • Grey dress – The Limited
  • Blouse – The Limited
  • Boots – Cole Haan
  • Necklace – Marc Jacobs

I’d love to stay and chat, but I have a mile-long to-do list that is calling my name. I’ll be back later for the Daily Delish ;)

What is everyone up to this weekend? Tonight the Mister and I are going to go see SHUTTER ISLAND with my parents – has anyone seen it yet? Looks like it might be a nail-bitter!

NOTE: Next week we’ll have the FASHION FRIDAY CONTEST – so get your photos ready and start emailing them to me!

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thankful Thursday!

Let’s close our eyes, step away from our “to-do-lists” and take a moment and think about what we are thankful for this week.

I’ll kick it off. This week I’m thankful for…

the sunshine, even in its scarceness

good books (recently finished Goldengrove, Belong to me and now reading on mystic lake.)

big ideas and how quickly they inspire

yummy flavor combinations

the extra sleep the Mister and I have been getting by going to bed early (makes all the difference!)

dry shampoo — cuz sometimes a morning shower just isn’t gonna happen

my family — and the fact that my grandma is OK after her emergency hospital visit this week ;(

SPRING – and that it is JUST sround the corner — can you feel it?

my city, Cleveland, and that we’re all giving the middle finger to Forbes

What are you grateful for this week? Why should you be giving thanks?

Daily Delish – HOLY GUACAMOLE!

How do you jazz up an otherwise medicore California burger (that’s not fair, they are actually quite delicious on their own…but I digress..)?

You add a sweet potato and a heck of a lot more guac! Well not technically guacamole, because I simply mashed up an avocado without adding anything extra, but you catch my drift don’t you, snowflakes?

My, oh my! This kinda meal makes my whole Lent situationnot so bad! And you KNOW that I used the other half of the avocado to smear on top of my sweet potato – another fantastic combo!

Don’t go too far, I’ll be back soon with Thankful Thursday!

What do you add to your burgers (veggie or reg!) to make them more flavorful?

Daily Delish – BACON

Bacon=deliciousness. And no, not KEVIN!

From chocolate covered, to milkshakes (at the B spot!), pizza and ice cream, bacon is taking (or has taken?) the world by storm.

Do not even TRY to tell me otherwise. I know that some of you are vegetarians and don’t eat bacon for ethical reasons — but don’t even try and tell me it isn’t mouth-watering delicious. Because I don’t take kindly to liars. Sure, some of you may not like the IDEA of bacon and some of you may be grossed out with the process of making bacon. But you bet your little hiney that If i told you it was the newest organic vegetable from the earth, you’d shout for joy in adoration. Am I taking this a bit too far? I tend to do that sometimes…

My point is – bason is marvelous.

What isn’t marvelous is fat and cholesterol. Luckily, there are several healthier options out there that still deliver the awesomeness of all that is “bacon,” without making us commit healthy eating crimes.

My favorite option out there (that I eat 3-4 times a week):

Whole Foods carries an ORGANIC turkey bacon, which I also enjoy, but Butterball wins due to price and convenience. Each slice is only 25 calories (so naturally I have at least 2), with only 1.5 grams of fat.

To complete one of my favorite breakfasts, I enjoy bacon alongside two REAL eggs (sunny side up or over easy) and toast (or rudi’s bagel). As yummy as eggs and toast may be, it just isn’t breakfast without my chewy strips of saltiness!

Are you a fan of bacon? Do you do the real thing? go turkey? go veg?
