Good morning, everyone!
Are you ready for the long-awaited surprise?! I said, ARE YOU READY FOR THE SURPRISE! (Go ahead, fist-pump into the air and clap your hands
)
Remember my fitness resolutions goals?
Well, as you all know, I don’t do anything half-assed. If I’m going to learn something or make a commitment, I go all out. So in an effort to become a little yogi, I bring to you…YOGA WEEK.
In an effort to familiarize myself with the practice, I’m going to be doing a lot of reading, introductory videos, classes, etc. For those of you who have been thinking about starting yoga, NOW IS THE TIME! Let’s conquer this sucker together
But we’ll need gear, won’t we? We’ll need the right tools, too, right?!
Lucky for you, I’ve got ya covered. Each day this week, I will be featuring a yoga-themed giveaway and providing introductory information for those of you who want to get started with me (and for those of you who already practice). I have some AMAZING giveaways lined up — total retail cost of all prizes is roughly $180!
Be sure to check in every day to see what we’re up to and score some great yoga gear.
Now, in order to do anything, you’ll need a yoga mat. And don’t get one of those cheap-y mats that will fall apart — we’re in this for the long run, people!
Let’s do this the right way and get The Flower of Life Mat from Gaiam
Flower of Life Yoga Mat features:
- Textured nonslip surface
- Provides cushion for your body
- Lightweight, durable and chic
- Solid construction
The folks at Gaiam are graciously giving away one yoga mat to one lucky reader. To enter, simply leave a comment telling me why you want to start yoga – or if you already practice, tell me what you love most about it! And as always, there are multiple ways to score an entry.
TO WIN EXTRA ENTRIES YOU MAY:
- Tweet about the giveaway
- Blog about the giveaway (if you don’t have a blog, email someone the giveaway)
- Follow me on google reader
- Add The Daily Balance to your Blogroll
Just leave me a comment letting me know that you did each of the above and you can get up to 4 more entries!! If you already follow on google reader and have me on your Blogroll, just let me know – you’ll still get an extra entry
GOOD LUCK!

I love yoga .. for some reason I don’t do it enough though. I think it’s cause my schedule is so weird and there aren’t any classes at a good time for me – like 11 a.m. – they’re all at 6 a.m. or 6 p.m., which really doesn’t work for a girl who works nights
But, i do have a few DVDs. I should dig them up!
I follow you on GR.
Also you’re on my blogroll!

I love how I feel after yoga. It is such a good tool for me to use when stressed.
I love how relaxing yoga is, no matter what else is going on in my life.

my parents got me started doing yoga when i was in high school (am now 24) and I have enjoyed it off and on ever since. i love how it leaves me feeling elated and like i can glide around which is very different from my normally clumsy self. I want to do it more now that my life is a little more regular. I emailed one of my girlfriends about your giveaway week.

I’ve only taken one yoga class but it was great! As a former dancer, I easily fell into the flexibility moves. I’d love to start taking more classes, and a mat would be perfect for that. (I used a very slippery mat that the gym provided and it just didn’t work!)
And you’re on my Google Reader!
i already practice, but i would love to make it a nearly daily habit!

I want to start practicing yoga to help me with my running. Running compounds your muscles and if you don’t stretch (like me!), you are more prone to injuries. Yoga is a good form of stretching with the additional benefits of being relaxing and a form of meditation. I can’t wait to start and winning the mat would encourage me to get started!
Oh yeah, I’m following you on my Google Reader.
