Make it Monday – Recipe for happiness

Make It

OK- so we’re going to do Make it Monday a little differently today. For those of you who are new to the blog, each Monday I share a recipe that I’ve tried in my own kitchen and is worth sharing with YOU.

But since the holidays are making me all warm and fuzzy, I figured we’d change things up a bit this morning. So just deal with the sappiness, my friends. After all, it’s Christmas ;)

I’ve been thinking a lot about what in life makes me happy. The Mister and I are at that point in our lives. You know, the part where we’re ready for the next step — kids? a house? a career move? who knows! But we’re ready.

We’ve been having countless conversations about what we want out of life — where we want to be in 5 years, what our goals, are, etc.

But I think that it might be simpler than that. Yes, you have to think about the BIG picture, but we all know that sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest difference. Today I want to focus on the little things that make us happy. Or, our individual recipes for happiness, if you will. Don’t roll your eyes at me — I know, it’s cheesy- but doing this activity might just bring some clarity to what you want in life — and it may make things simpler than you think they are.

In the end, life isn’t all that complicated, as we’re all searching for one thing — happiness. The complicated part is getting there!

My recipe for Happiness:

My Mister. ’nuff said.

Time – time is funny, isn’t it? You can’t bottle it, stop it or freeze it, but we all know how precious it can be — and we all want MORE. The secret? You can make it! Sure, it may require a bit of prioritizing, and no one said it was easy — but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

Opportunities to utilize my talents – I sing. I’m pretty good at it to. Best of all? It makes me happy. Through cantoring at church and singing professionally at weddings I’m able to keep my passion alive.

My family and friends - the ones who already exist and the little ones who haven’t been born yet. I cannot even convey how much I’m looking forward to being a mom ;) (in time, people, in time ;) )

Learning – I’ve mentioned how much of a nerd I am, haven’t I? Whether I’m reading, discussing, contemplating or writing — I think I was made for a classroom. I can’t wait to return for my PhD and one day inspire and mentor others.

Exploring – Visiting a new town, experiencing a new culture, tasting new foods and marveling at beautiful landscapes alongside my Mister is so exhilarating, so fulfilling, so — right.

It’s just that simple.

Sure, I’d like to throw in that an amazing meal (or cupcake!) always brings a smile to my face, as do beautiful clothing and shoes. But all I need are a few things in life to make me truly happy.

What is your recipe for happiness?

this is perhaps the simplest recipe — but the most difficult to make at the same time. Thank you for the positivity and inspiration on this fine Monday morning, love!

Love your list! I’d have to add making sure that there’s plenty of me time. If I don’t get time to myself, it’s not pretty!

Stuff that would definitely make it on my list include: music, exercise, the fam, my amazing friends, my dog, learning (nerd alert! I’m a self-professed nerd, too!),healthy eats, and, a recent addition, the blogging community! :)

Can I throw in my deep spirituality, exercise, meditation, and along with your singing – dancing.

Walks in nature, proximity to water, laughing with my kids, making other people laugh and smile……..I could go on and on. What a great subject!

    Live Life Happy!
