Daily Delish – Zocalo

Daily Delish

This past Saturday was the first night of PlayhouseSquare’s Broadway Series.

As some of you may know, Cleveland actually has one of the largest theatre districts, only second to New York City. Each year, the Mister and I treat ourselves to season tickets. It’s definitely a splurge, but we love knowing that each month, no matter what, we’ll have a fancy romantic night out. Yo know how that goes — you see a show, concert or event is coming to town and you say you’ll get tickets. But somehow, life gets in the way and before you know it, the event is long gone. With this subscription, we have to hold ourselves accountable — and it promises a fun night out each month. We always make sure to go to a nice restaurant beforehand and dessert is also normally always involved.

This Saturday, we took advantage of a gift certificate I purchased quite some time ago on Restaurant.com. (SIDE NOTE: Have you used restaurant.com? If not, jump on it! The site offers gift cards for nice restaurants in your area at a discount. I only paid $4 for a $25 gift card! The only catch is that you have to spend $35 (which we normally spend anyway!)  The service is available in most areas, so check it out.) at Zocalo on E 4th street.

Just look at the charming pathway!

The Mister and I started with guacamole made-to-order. The Mister was kind enough to allow me to request LIGHT jalapeno peppers – what can I say, I’m a wimp!

I ordered a salad of mixed greens with shrimp skewers and a side of mango vinaigrette. It was so refreshing!

The Mister ordered a chicken taco and cheese enchilada, but he was way to hungry to cooperate for a photo. I did what I could ;)

After our delicious dinner, we headed over to the Palace Theatre for the surprisingly hilarious, Young Frankenstein. I had no idea what to expect, but this show was phenomenal! It had me rolling on the floor laughing and was very ‘Mister-friendly,’ or as he would say, “not brutal.”

Two of these may or may not have been consumed. Who am I kidding? They were consumed! Hey, a girl needs a snack during the show AND and intermission – don’t judge ;)

All in all, this was a fantastic and much need night out after my rough week!

How often do you splurge on a special night out? Is it with your Mister or Misses? Guy friends? Girlfriends? Kids? Parents? Share!
