Daily Delish – VegiTerranean

Good morning!

I wanted to take a quick moment and share an experience at a new restaurant the Mister and I visited this weekend. We worked up quite an appetite at the Yankee Peddler Festival, and while apple dumplings and pumpkin rolls sure sounded amazing, I wanted something ‘healthy’ after my decadent breakfast!

VegiTerranean, owned and founded by Chrissie Hynde of The Prentenders is quickly becoming a hot spot in Akron. Its trendy decor and location attract many foodies to the all-organic, vegan menu. The Mister and I have been wanting to try it out for quite some time, but the hour drive was keeping us away. Since the Yankee Peddler Festival was in the area, we figured it’d be a great opportunity to finally taste some of the goodness we’d hear people raving about.

VegiTerranean is located on the first floor of a swanky condo unit – can you imagine living there? I’d want to eat out every night!

I loved the interior of the restaurant. The modern lines and ‘bright white’ worked well with the space and showcased the large windows, which added color from the landscape. The Mister and I sat by the window which overlooked the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.

We both wanted burgers. I asked the waiter which one he recommended (I do this often – I mean they would know best, right?!) and he told me I’d be a fool not to go with the portobello burger. You guys know I love my shrooms, so I was happy to comply!

How amazing does that look?

Don’t worry, it was! I cleaned my plate on this one. Well, actually that is a lie. I did not clean my plate. I am not a fan of coleslaw so I had a few bites (have to give it a fair shot!) and left the rest. But I did finish every last morsel of that burger! So juicy and delish! I could really taste the seasonings and the bread was soft, doughy and did a great job of sopping up all the goodness.

Let’s just say it’s probably a good thing that VegiTerranean is so far away because otherwise I would be spending my entire paycheck there! The Mister and I definitely want to head back for dinner, though – there was so much good stuff to choose from!

Daily Delish – Pumpkin Pancakes

Continuing with sharing my fall-themed Saturday, I figured I’d give you guys a peek at my fantastic breakfast from the Original Pancake House. The Original Pancake House is one of my favorite breakfast spots, but we tend to keep it an occasional, special occurrence – since everything (at least all the items I want to order, anyway) is SO decadent! Keeping with the fall theme, I ordered one of my favorite things on the menu…

Behold…

PUMPKIN PANCAKES!

This was a SIDE order. And yes, that is whipped cream (obvi!)

I added on a side of fresh fruit, too.

This was the perfect way to kick off our day and I can’t wait to go back! I have a feeling I’ll be enjoying this meal again this season ;)

Are pancakes a special treat for you or more of an every day occurrence?

Try it – The Yankee Peddler Festival

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

The Mister was kind enough to be a good sport and take me to one of my favorite fall activites this past weekend, The Yankee Peddler Festival.

From the Web site:

Step back in time 200 years and visit pioneer America with master artists and crafters setting up rustic shops along streams and amid lovely wooded dales, with foods and snacks cooked over open fires, and with non-stop entertainment across the 75-acre grounds. Keep up to the hour and follow events with the Town Criers. Visit with the militia and mountain men, or learn crafts with hands-on instruction. Visit with the master crafters and artists while they demonstrate the way they transform nature into something unique for you and yours.

Doesn’t that sound fun?! I thought so too!

Many of you already know about my festive spirit, so this little activity should come as no surprise!

The Mister and I made a whole day of it and started with a breakfast that I’ll share later (get excited kiddos, it was amazing!). We then set out on the old dusty trail (er, highway) for an hour long drive to the Festival.

While I didn’t find the artisan who created my favorite Halloween decorations, the Mister and I had a great time on our little adventure in the woods!

I just know the Mister is looking forward to all the other fun activities I have up my sleeve — apple picking, pumpkin patch, haunted train ride, the list goes on!

What is your favorite fall activity?

Next up – my final recap from our Toronto trip!

The Mister and I, after being so impressed with our hotel, decided to give their breakfast menu a try.

It did not disappoint!

I ordered the Sexy Scramble and boy was it sexaaayyy!

Egg whites scrambled with gourmet mushrooms serves with mixed greens and ricotta toast.

So lovely. So YUM.

The star of the plate? The ricotta toast! I had never tried this before and boy was I missing out! What is ricotta toast, you ask? Well, it is exactly as it sounds — ricotta on toast (imagine what a fool I felt like when I asked the waiter this very question!)

If you haven’t tried this before, do it. It is like toast and cream cheese kicked up a notch – so tasty!

What is your favorite toast topper?
