Daily Delish – or shall I say.. diario delicioso!

Daily Delish

The Mister and I have been wanting to try a Mexican restaurant in the Cleveland -area for quite some time now. We’ve heard so many fantastic things about it and as guac-addicts, we were looking forward to the restaurant’s highly acclaimed guacamole. Last night seemed the the perfect evening to try it out.

According the the restaurant’s Web site, the menu at Momocho focuses on seasonal + local ingredients combined with a unique twist on presentations that capture the spirit of Mexico. Each Sunday, Momocho puts together a prix fixe dinner menu that’s updated with the daily specials. For only $30 a couple, the Mister and I were able to have a three course meal.

I loved the decor of Momocho…

As nice as the interior was, the Mister and I dined al fresco on the restaurant’s patio. We must take advantage of the ‘al fresco temperatures’ in Cleveland! It was lovely! The brick walls of the patio were overgrown with vines and strategically placed twinkle lights — very romantic!

We started with salsa and guac. We went with the traditional guac and chile verde salsa.

These chips were SO addicting! We finally stopped ourselves after two baskets.

For our entree, we had our choice of two different enchiladas. I selected the spinach and cheese and the Mister went with chicken and yam.

This dish had an underlying sweetness to it — maybe it was the cheese? Kind of tasted like ricotta… either way, it was delicious!

We finished the meal with traditional flan. This was my first time trying flan and I LOOOVED it. I couldn’t stop ‘yummming.’ I think at one point the Mister had to give me one of those looks — you know, the ones that say “calm down Shannon, you are embarrassing me and being a bit dramatic.” I couldn’t help it — I will not be stifled, Mister!

This was so creamy and it melted in your mouth — tasted like the inside of a creme brulee – outstanding! Have you tried flan before?

The Mister and I will definitely be dining at Momocho again – we plan on going on another Sunday so we can take advantage of the ‘Sunday dinner special.’ I had a wonderful time chatting with my Mister and just enjoying his company ;) We love trying out new restaurants – it is one of our favorite things to do and Momocho was a great spot to cross off our list (but I am sure we’ll be making another appearance soon!)

How often do you try out new restaurants? We try and go to a new place at least once a month.

My BF absolutely LOVES Flan! I haven’t tried Flan in a loooong time….normally I like stuff with better consistency and not so smooshy….but I might be remembering it incorrectly, too!

Love trying new restaurants….try and do it at least once a month. :-)

  11. Looks great! I have never had flan, but I’ve had creme caramel which I *think* is the same thing? Need to google. I love going to new restaurants…not something I’ve been doing much of since I came back to the UK, but when I lived in NY, it was weekly, at least (though often just a quick lunch in a new place!)

  12. All of that food looks so delicious!! I am jealous. I have had flan before but it has been a while…so delish!!

  13. [...] has a crush!) – The Mister and I had a great date night last night. After chowing down at Momocho, we laughed our butts off at Aziz Ansari’s night of comedy. There are few things more fun [...]
