Woweee, it was tough getting out of bed this morning!
The Mister and I (and two of our good friends) had a blast dancing and singing along to Jason Mraz all night. This was the third time I’ve seen Jason (that’s right, we’re on a first-name basis) live and each time I am more and more impressed. He is INCREDIBLE. One of the VERY FEW musicians who actually sounds better live – if that’s possible! If he comes to your area, do yourself a favor and make sure you go to his show.
Anyway, as our snack refreshment, the Mister and I each had a PB&J Larabar. Remember when I reached out the the fabulous LARABAR folks in hopes to receive free samples of the new bars?! Yea, that didn’t happen.
But, I did happen to find the PB&J and Tropical Fruit Tart at my local Whole Foods and VeggieGirl was generous enough to give me one of her German Chocolate Cake flavors.
So, now you know that I have absolutely no obligation whatsoever to review these products. Great, moving on.
Backtracking… Let’s hop on the time machine, shall we? Before tasting the PB&J, the Mister and I shared the German Chocolate Cake Lara bar at a movie (I believe it was District 9, but we see so many that I can’t be sure!) last week.

It was…OK
It was extremely similar to the Chocolate Coconut Chew, which was disappointing – wasn’t this flavor was supposed to be NEW?! Then again, I’ve always thought all the jocolat flavors (while being extremely tasty!) were all quite similar (maybe my palate just sucks!?). I guess the German Chocolate Cake was a bit sweeter, and dessert-y tasting, but that being said, I prefer the Chocolate Coconut Chew. Not much else to say about it really. Has anyone else tried this flavor? (NOTE: When I asked the Mister to tell me what he thought he said, “I don’t really remember…” – take from that what you will…)
Hop on the time machine again, friends! Moving forward to last night… Peanut Butter & Jelly LARA.

Anything I say this bar will not be enough. It was heavenly. Melt in your mouth EFF-ING FANTASTIC. Tasted just like a peanut butter and jelly (go figure!) with the crusts cut off. All I needed was a big glass of milk (hmmmmm - think about that LARABAR marketing gurus! – And don’t forget who gave you the idea next time you come out with new flavors!). I was really worried how the ‘jelly’ flavoring would work. As you know, I HATE fruity bars, so I was a bit nervous. But it was the perfect ratio! Spot on. Get your hands on this bar now and don’t let anyone else near it!
I still have yet to try the Tropical Fruit Tart, but I’ll make sure to let you know what I think.

hehe, I just got my free samples yesterday (although I didn’t get the German Choc!) and will be reviewing this week. Can’t wait!! (yes, we are dorks excited by these simple things…LOL)
ah i cant wait to try pb and jelly!!! ive been keeping my eyes out for it but no such luck
is it just me or are you just not a fan of the jocalat line all together? i mean it isnt BAD but its not as good as the regular old larabar
omg i can’t wait to try this. you won’t believe it but i’ve never had a lara bar. i’m ashamed even saying that! ahhhh! hahah this might be my first flavor to try since everyone talks sooo good about it!
I could only find that german chocolate flavor at my whole foods :\ I haven’t heard great things about it either!!

I tried a nibble of the German chocolate one and wasn’t that impressed. I haven’t had chocolate coconut yet so I was wondering if it was basically the same thing.

Mmmm PBJ lara and the Tropical Fruit Tart Lara!!! I’ve heard mixed things about the TFT lara, but I absolutely LOVED IT!! It might be my new favorite!
I had the tropical fruit tart and LOVED it – SO SO SO SO good! I haven’t tried the PBJ yet but I’m really excited for it!
Oh man, peanut butter is my fav! I haven’t gotten my hands on this one yet, but it sounds awesome. I want to try it!

Hi! I just came across your website and read the story on how you met your husband – so cute!!! It’s funny how timing is everything sometimes.
I’ve had luck finding both – I liked the PB&J, but not as much as you! I’d get it again, but not falling over myself to do it quickly. The tropical fruit tart, on the other hand – that, to me, is the best flavor yet. Brighter and tangier than other Larabars, love the coconut – I actually bought an entire box yesterday!
I am SO jealous that you ate a PB & J lara bar. I have been wanting to get my hands on one of those. I am also THRILLED to hear how great it was. cannot wait!!!!!
I love the PB&J bar. It claims the first spot on my larabar list. I’ve never had any Jocolat bars in the past, so I thought the german chocolate cake had really good chocolate flavor and I really dig the coconut shreds in them.
These bars MUST be amazing because EVERYONE has been blogging about them lately!! Do you know if they’ve got refined sugar in them (I’m guessing so but ya never know..)
