Daily Delish – Chips and Guac – healthified!

Daily Delish

Last night I was craving something crunchy and delicious. After rooting around the kitchen, I remembered I had recently purchased a new brand of whole wheat tortillas (with endorsements from both Men’s Health and Health!), Tumaro’s Multi Grain Tortilla.

It was then that I realized I could make my own healthy tortilla chips!

I preheated the oven to 400 degrees and cut the tortilla into bite-sized triangles. After spreading out on a cookie sheet, I sprayed lightly with PAM (makes them crisp!) and seasoned with salt.

After baking for 8 minutes, the chips were ready for my mouth.

All done!

All done!

Let’s face it, the whole reasoning behind this madness was to eat THIS:

Calavo Guac

While I prefer the Whole Foods store-made, natural and fresh guacamole, this brand served as a great stand-in! So creamy and delicious.

The whole plate came in at only 166 calories! Not bad for a filling and delicious snack — the perfect choice for my “How I Met Your Mother” viewing!

What is your favorite TV snack?

I eat similar tortillas all the time… never thought to make chips out of them. Thanks for the idea!

That looks great! I, too, base my meals around dips (hummus in my case) – so much more fun!

Thank you so much for posting this idea. I made the tortilla chips today and they were fantastic. For the dip, I used 1/2 of a ripe Hass avocado mixed with 3/4 c. of Trader Joe’s pineapple salsa. It was great!
