Daily Delish – Peanut butter and banana in a cup

Daily Delish

Well as I mentioned earlier, today was the day my company moved into our new offices. My goodness, it is BEAUTIFUL! My chair actually has arms now! And it is FANTASTIC! It’s a super fancy ergonomic chair and I feel extra important sitting in it. I can already tell that being in this new environment will give me a bit more energy to get through the work day.

As a ‘welcome to the new space’ gesture, my company was kind enough to provide lunch for everyone. Unfortunately they decided on Rascal House pizza. I don’t know if anyone has ever had the displeasure of eating this sad excuse for a za, but don’t. Seriously, it tastes like hand (I wish I was kidding).

I took the lunch hour to meet up with the Mister and walk to one of my favorite downtown healthy ‘fast food’ joints, Octane Cafe.

From the Octane Cafe Web site:

Octane Cafe offers customers nutritionally balanced sandwich wraps, salads, soups and a wide selection of healthy sides and snacks. We also feature a full like of premium smoothies, blended coffees and state-of-the-art nutritional supplements. Our made-to-order menu is prepared by a highly trained staff in an inspiring and refreshing atmosphere.

Interesting fact:
Octane’s director of Marketing, Valerie Wuagaman is one of the top 10 IFBB Figure Pros in the World and is one of the most recognizable names in the fitness industry. She has been featured on the cover of Oxygen Magazine, Flex Magazine, Muscle and Fitness Hers, Cleveland Magazine, etc. She was recently featured as ‘Siren’ on NBC’s ‘America Gladiators.’

My favorite thing on the menu is the Power Nut Smoothie: nonfat or soymilk, natural peanut butter, banana and Protein blend calories 434 – carbs 38g – protein 40g – fats 14g – fiber 6g – sugar 10g – fiber 6g – sugar 10g

It is honestly DELICIOUS! So creamy and decedent! And you know you can’t go wrong with PB and nana ;)

I also really enjoy Octane’s Empower bars – “Fresh Baked and Chilled! a sweet blend of whole grains and superfoods baked into a pocket-sized square meal. Though they may look like a snack, don’t be surprised to feel satisfied and energized after eating one. Great for WORKOUTS!” Since the Power Nut Smoothie made a pretty substantial lunch, I held off on ordering an Empower bar. It will be my excuse to go later this week!

What do you do when you work or office serves up unhealthy food? Do you dig in and count it as a little indulgence or find your own grub?

If it looks like something I would like, then I indulge in a bit, but if its just meh, I try not to eat it just because its in front of me!

I usually find my own food – unless I feel it would be rude not to try a little. PB&B is the best – what a taste combo!

Oh gosh I wish there were places like that around here! That smoothie looks awesome. At the office I always ask myself the question: do I really fancy what’s laid out? If I do, I’ll have some, if not, I won’t.

  7. That sounds amazing! I wish there were places like that here!

I generally duck out of work when there is a food event involving nasty food- though if it’s something I like, I’ll stick around. One place used to order everything from Thai to raw to gourmet burgers…I was all over that ;) When it was “pizza/popcorn/beer”, I packed my own!

What a great find!! I always bring my own food to work – usually everything they order has some sort of meat in it and I don’t do meat.

I typically find my own. But that is mainly because I have crohn’s disease and if I eat foods that are unknown + unhealthy, I typically pay for it in the end.

But I will definitely cave and have a cookie or something if they are around and I have a craving.

    Happiness Awaits
