Daily Delish – Pretty sushi, walkin’ down the street…

Due to my ANGER last night, the Mister and I decided to go out for sushi to de-stress and spend some quality time together. We went to one of our favorite spots — SUSHI ROCK. Sushi Rock is home of my favorite Maki roll in the world! – the Pretty Woman ;)

It contains: salmon, avocado, cucumber and cream cheese. Topped with fresh kiwi slices! Isn’t she gorgeous?

This certainly helped me forget my frustrations! – this, and my stunning Mister, of course! ;)

Tonight the Mister and I are going to see a movie (Funny People) with my parents — looking forward to it!

What are all of you up to tonight?

Fashion Friday

Good morning!

As most of you know by now, I LOVE re-purposing items of my wardrobe to create different outfits. This week I wore a long, summery dress out for a casual dinner and then to work the next day. Here’s how I did it:

First up this week we have Elina! Check out those shoes and earrings! Hot mama! I love the punch of color they add to this otherwise understated, sophisticated outfit! This shirt dress is adorable (no wonder, it’s Theory! One of my fave designers ;) ) and I love the thin built-in-belt. They way Elina has her hair pulled back ads to the overall chicness, too ;)

Shoes: Charles David
Earrings: Nina Nguyen (bought through ideeli)
Bracelet: David Yurman (gift from husband)

The stylish Alisa joins us once again with a blouse that I am going to try and steal from her. A true layering guru, I love the way that Alisa uses different shapes and silhouettes to create a unique look. The cropped blazer provides an interesting layer, without overpowering the gorgeous blouse. The thin belt accentuates her figure without drawing attention from the rest of the outfit. And how amazing is it that she scored most of this at TJ Maxx?!

Check and Check! Danielle looks so effortlessly stylish – and is making me CRAVE fall! Seriously, if you saw this girl on the street, wouldn’t you immediately assume she was awesome? I would ;)

Welcome, Paige! What an awesome color! This outfit is stunning! I love the studded, somewhat hard belt paired with the dainty shoes and feminine skirt. The skirt creates a great shape as it billows outwards and this is a perfect example of how to wear leggings in a FLATTERING way. I wear leggings like this all the time with my skirts and I love how it breaks up the outfit and draws focus to the adorable shoes ;)

Daily Delish – Seeing red….

Well people, in order to ‘keep it real,’ I have to say…. I AM FRUSTRATED!!!

ANGRY, LIVID, IRRATIONAL, (insert every other ‘angry’ adjective you can think of!) - UGH!

To make a long story short, I won’t be having surgery tomorrow. My surgeon threw his back out and is unable to operate. It has been rescheduled for NEXT Friday.

The reason why this is such an issue is because I inconvenienced a lot of people to accommodate this surgery. I moved meetings around at work, the Mister took off work and moved his meetings around, we skipped out on the Dave Matthews Band concert since it was raining and I didn’t want to get more sick (they won’t operate if you are sick)…needless to say I now feel like the inconvenience. NOT A GOOD FEELING!

For those of you who have had surgery before, you know how much re-scheduling, planning, etc. goes into it. In addition, I have been anticipating this surgery and been ‘mentally ready’ for it all week. Now I feel all discombobulated and out of sync. Haha, I guess I don’t adapt very well to change ;)

I’m really hoping the Mister and I could make the best of it and enjoy one last weekend before I turn into a little ‘hobbler!’ I’m seeing some putt-putt and possibly a zoo visit in our future!

Anyway, before I heard of this terrible news, I met the Mister for lunch and purchased a snack to enjoy later this afternoon.

Let’s just say it was unwrapped as soon as I returned to my desk.

Heavenly.

OK — I need your help – what do you do when you are super stressed? How do you keep things in perspective? How do you handle the fact that you (even if it was indirectly) also inconvenienced the people you care about most? Because all I want to do is SCREAM!

Thankful – Here’s to the good days ;)

Health: (noun) the general condition of the body or mind with reference to soundness and vigor.

Seems so simple, doesn’t it? But for most of us, it’s not until we have a problem or issue that we truly value our health. With my surgery tomorrow, I thought today would be a great day to reflect on how lucky I’ve been in regards to my health. Sure, I had surgery a few years ago and am getting it again, but it’s a simple procedure and I’m LUCKY to be able to have it. This surgery, long term, is actually going to make me MORE healthy. I’m so grateful for the resources and technology to make that possible.

So often we focus on what’s wrong with our bodies — a sore throat, an injured leg, stuffy nose, the list goes on. But on days void of aches, pains and stuffy noses, do you take a few moments to think about how lucky you are to have your health? C’mon! Be truthful. Do you actually thank whatever it is you believe in for your health? Yea, me neither. But, WE SHOULD! And moving forward, I’m really going to focus on being grateful for all the good days.

So, here’s to all our good days ;)

What are you thankful for today?

Daily Delish – Oats-to-go

Reason #176 why I love working less than a block from a Starbucks.

Now, did it look this pretty?

Starbucks Oatmeal

Absolutely not! But it was delicious and filling, so it deserves that *misleading* photo ;)

I used the entire mixed nuts packet and just a smidgen of brown sugar. (Because I’m sweet enough already, right? ;) )

This was a great afternoon snack choice that did a great job of stopping my growling tummy!

How often do you take advantage of the cafes and restaurants near your work?
