Daily Delish – For all you chocoholics out there — I’ve found your heaven ;)

Daily Delish

How is everyone? We’re almost at the weekend, get excited!! Well, I figured I’d end the day on a sweet note with all of you ;)

In addition to our NYC cupcake and pizza escapades, the Mister and also went to a chocoholics paradise — Max Brenner’s.

A bit about the company:

It’s not only about mixing exotic spices or creating delicate mousses. It is more than just an excellent gourmet product. Chocolate, more than any other food, is integrated in to many aspects of our lives. It is a symbol of contradicting emotions and sensations. On one hand, it is the most romantic gift, on the other hand it is a commodity which is traded on the stock exchange. It is sold like a prestigious piece of jewelry carefully selected from a glass case but also as an addictive snack available at every corner store. It is tasted like a fine wine and licked off of fingers dipped straight in to the bowl. It is sexy, nostalgic, and forever an object of fantasy for children and grownup children. These diverse chocolate associations are the inspiration behind Max Brenner’s new chocolate culture.

Max Brenner explains, “I don’t invent anything in chocolate. It all exists in people’s minds and hearts. I just express it in the most evident way- a way that everyone imagines chocolate and wishes to experience it. Until now, chocolate was sold in a manner that contradicts its sensual, warm and joyful character… Restrained ambiance. Untouchable. Closed behind a glass barrier. I have “freed” chocolate from its cage. I let people experience it to the fullest. I allow people to enjoy it to the max. It’s so simple. All you have to do is just really love chocolate!!”

Can I get an Amen?

Stepping into the restaurant, you really do feel as if you’ve set foot in a  modern day Willy Wonka Factory. Sensory overload! So much to look at, see, touch – TASTE! I kept myself occupied just looking at all the amazingness while we waiting about 30 minutes for our seats.

For you white chocolate lovers...

For you white chocolate lovers...

After looking at the tantalizing ‘sweets’ menu (PDF) for what seemed like hours, we finally reached a consensus and ordered the following for the table (there were four of us, so it’s not TOO gluttonous!):

Max’s Three Layer Chocolate Concoction with Cookies and Peanut Butter:
Milk chocolate cream layered with Oreo cookie bits in peanut butter and white chocolate chunks topped with whipped cream. Served with crunchy wafer balls and biscotti on the side.

The Golden Heart:
A warm chocolate cake filled with a double layer of pure chocolate and rich creamy caramel. Served with toffee bananas, a side of caramel sauce and Dulce de Leche ice cream topped with chocolate fondue.

Chocolate Mess:
This warm chocolate cake can be eaten with spatula straight form the pan. It is topped with ice cream (dark/milk chocolate, Dulce de Lecheor vanilla), toffee bananas and a mountain of whipped cream with candied hazelnut crunchy bits on top. Served with additional chocolate chunks, toffee cream and warm chocolate sauce on the side.

Everything was just as amazing as it looks. The Chocolate Mess was to die for — wowzers. But even our group of four couldn’t finish everything! If you pay a visit to Max Brenner’s (which I highly suggest), make sure you go with a lot of people so you can try a bunch of yummy treats.

OK, so I’ve gotta ask — what’s your favorite chocolate? Milk/Dark/White/etc?

Oh wow, I had no idea Max Brenners was like this. I actually have some of their chocolate at home (gift from my sister) but I was never tempted to go to the shop because I thought I already had all the goods at home. Totally making a trip out there next time we’re in NY. Thanks for sharing this. Love all your NY trip recaps!! :D
