Daily Delish – popchips

Daily Delish

After seeing several appearances on the bloggosphere, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about in regards to popchips! OK. I’ll be honest, I got a few free coupons and I am NEVER one to pass on free grub. EVER. (yes, that’s an invitation ;) )

Anyway, after pouring over the company’s Web site, the Mister informed me that he wanted the Salt and Pepper and Parmesan and Garlic Flavors (I only had two coups!). Quire presumptions of him to think he was allowed to pick both flavors, no? It’s OK — I was most excited for the Parmesan and Garlic, so I let him have his Salt and Pepper (even if I was craving the BBQ — it’s all about making your loved ones priority, people!)

After reading how popchips is able to achieve great taste without added fat, I was pretty excited to try these chips.

From the Web site:

Healthier, delicious, all-natural. Actually, we are all that and a bag of chips. How do we do it? Well, first, let’s talk about how we don’t do it. We never fry our chips. That just puts a lot of stuff in there that we could all do without. We never bake our chips either. That just takes a lot of flavor out, which, as snackers, we simply can’t do without.

So we came up with a chip like no snack aisle has seen (or taste bud has tasted). That’s because we found a way to pop all the flavor in while keeping fake stuff and more than half the fat of fried chips out. Thanks to the magic of popped…. We take the finest ingredients, like wholesome potatoes, apply heat and pressure, and pop! It’s a chip. Then we use an artful blend of natural seasonings for a snack so tasty, crispy and dip-able, you won’t even notice it’s (we hesitate to say) healthier.

What’s out? More than half the fat of fried potato chips, trans fats, and cholesterol. All gone. For good. What’s popped in? Only what’s natural, tons of delicious, and plenty of crunch.

Unfortunately for the Mister, the Salt and Pepper flavor was not available at the Whole Foods I went to. While I should could have been greedy and bought the BBQ, I chose the original, thinking that would be a good alternative (the Mister HATES BBQ).

These were delicious! Loved the crunch factor! The flavor of the spices and garlic in the Parmesan and Garlic chips was fantastic and not overpowering, like many other garlic flavored chips. I mean, who knows when the Cullens are going to stop by — I’m not going the be the one to scare them off! I’d definitely buy these again. The Mister loved them, as well. It’s a good thing the bags are fairly small, otherwise these would be a dangerous snack, because we couldn’t stop ‘POP’ ing these CHIPS in our mouth!

What’s your favorite flavor of potato chips?

I really liked the BBQ PopChips but the parmesan ones were way too salty for me! However, these are definitely good for the chip-o-holic!!

    I’m a BBQ girl myself!

Haven’t tried PopChips yet, but I’ve seen them in blogworld and on the shelves at my grocery store too. Thanks for the review!

I have found THE best brand of chips. It’s yummy and fairly health: Kettle Brand baked chips. I love the salt and vinegar flavor, it has 170 cal. for 40 grams!

I’ve tried em and loved them too! I actually enjoyed all of the flavours but most especially the BBQ and the parm and garlic. So good and crunchy :)

  7. I really like Pop Chips. And the toddler absolutely LOVES them. I have to hide the bag from him as he insists on eating them whenever he sees them… :)

Mmm, Popchips! I’ve actually never tried them but their package has been slowly seducing me. I don’t eat too many potato chips (I have more of a sweet tooth), but when I do, I like really hard kinds (like Kettle chips) that are extra salty!

I just tried Popchips for the first time last week too, and I loved them! I had the original flavor, which I thought was really good, but my general preference on chips is salt and vinegar.

  12. Free coupons are the best! ;-)
