Try it – Take-in! A Mister Specialty – with help from Annie Chun (giveaway alert!)
Categories:
To kick of the beautiful weekend, the Mister was lucky enough to get to leave work at 3:00 on Friday. I did not have the same privilege. I couldn’t whine too much about it though, because as I scamper out the office at 5:00 everyday he has to be there until at least 5:30 (most nights, much later).
While many Misters would take this as an opportunity to get in some ‘gaming’ or couch-sitting, my lil Mister took it upon himself to surprise me with dinner. What a guy! I’m tellin’ you!
Side note: Do you think it’s coincidence that he has been doing all these fantastic things since I started the blog? Might we have a lil publicity hound on our hands?! He loves the attention people, so give him some love
(I’m just kidding honey)
In all seriousness, he does stuff like this for me all the time. I actually have another surprise I’ll share with you later this afternoon. He’s the best Mister ever. And he’s mine
Anyway, upon entering my house, I could have sworn that he had picked up some of my favorite Chinese food. The aroma was so exotic and delicious! Just when I thought he had me fooled with some takeout, he rounded the corner with two homemade dishes in hand: Tuna Teriyaki and roasted vegetables.
Wow. This was honestly restaurant-quality amazingness.

Side by side
Don’t worry, he was kind enough to share the recipes.
He used this Marinated Tuna Steak recipe, subbing Annie Chun’s Teriyaki sauce for the soy sauce.
For the veggies, he spread broccoli, fennel and green onion in a 9 x 9 pan. He seasoned with parsley, oregano and garlic and then placed the tuna steaks in the middle of all of the veggies. He poured the marinade on top, coating both the tuna and veggies.
I was super excited to learn that he used Annie Chun’s Teriyaki sauce! Ever since I received a sampler package from Annie Chun’s, I’ve been thinking of ways to create meals around all the fantastic products they sent me. The Mister and I both agreed that the sauce added a fantastic flavor to the dish. I really think Annie Chun’s products add a flavor of authenticity that you just can’t get with other products. Plus, I love that they are made with all-natural ingredients — you never know what some of those bottled sauces might contain! I can’t wait to try my other goodies!
- Take a look at the loot:

Annie Chun's goodies
- Pad Thai Rice Noodles
- Mai Fun Rice Noodles
- Chow Mein Chinese Noodles
- Soba Japanese Noodles
- Pad Thai Sauce
- Teriyaki Sauce
I plan on using at least one of the boxes of noodles this week, and will share what I come up with on next week’s ‘Try it’ Tuesday. I love that Annie Chun’s makes it so simple to create restaurant-quality dishes in the comfort of your own home. I also love that YOU have the control of what veggies and protein to add to the mix. Plus, you don’t have to worry about getting stuck with a calorie-laden bloat-inducing sodium feast that so many restaurants dish up! Make sure to check back to see what the Mister and I come up with!
In the meantime, you all have the chance to win the same sample package! Yes, the folks at Annie Chun’s are just THAT awesome.
