Daily Delish – Honest Tea is the best policy ;)

Daily Delish

I hate carbonation. like, HATE. Blech! ACK! It makes me scrunch up my lips and nose from it’s bitter sting — not an attractive look for me. I also cannot even take a sip without burping — again, isn’t my sex appeal irresistible?! I’m telling you!

As a little kid, I was always the loser at the birthday party who asked for milk instead of pop and even now in my ‘adult partying,’ I’m sure that the abundance of carbonated alcoholic beverages only contribute to the many reasons I rarely drink. As a recovering diet Snapple peach iced tea addict (I used to have a case a day — this is not a lie!), tea will always have a special place in my heart on my tongue. While I still love my Snapple, I try and limit the amount of artificially sweetened drinks I consume and only down about two or three a week.

Last week, I received a sample of Honest Tea in the mail. Seeking additional information I went to the company’s Web site and uncovered its mission statement (which I love): “Honest Tea creates and promotes delicious, truly healthy, organic beverages. We strive to grow with the same honesty we use to craft our products, with sustainability and great taste for all.”

I received the Honey Green Tea, which was labeled “just a tad sweet” — love that!

From the Web site:

We won’t sweet talk you. We’ll just say two words: Epigallocatechin gallate. It may not have the ring of “sweetheart” but EGCG is the most potent antioxidant around, and our organic green tea is packed with it. Sure, we add a kiss of honey to our tea, but not enough to gross you out. If we wanted to do that, we’d tell you that honey is flower nectar that bees regurgitate. Hey, we’re HONEST TEA; we don’t lie.

Honest Tea

Unlike my sweet addiction, diet Snapple, this tea did not have any artificial sweetener. In fact, it was sweetened naturally with honey – which bumped the calorie count for the entire bottle up to 70 calories — not bad! The tea was extremely refreshing — very thirst quenching! I loved the underlying flavor of the honey, and I know it added to the ‘lip-smackin-good’ factor. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more fun flavors when I’m at Whole Foods.

Don’t worry though, Snapple, you are still my true love — everything in moderation ;)

Have you tried Honest Tea? What is you favorite way to quench your thirst?

Although good ol’ water is my favorite way to quench thirst, I really like Honest Tea. Great taste, good ingredients, and a reasonable number of calories!

I’ve never tried the teas, but Honest Beverages also makes “Honest Ades” which are deeeeelicious! They’re not super-sweet, and really taste like fresh fruit (plus, they have less than 50 cal/serving). My two favs are the lime-ade and the pomagranite-blue. Sooooo tasty!

p.s. I’m a newbie to your blog and I love it!!! Thanks for such an awesome blog!
