Solve it- You asked for it- 25 Random things…

Good morning! Lots to do today- photo shoot, fashion show, errands and getting the Mister chips and refreshments while he watches the NFL draft. ;)

So while I didn’t get any hearty questions (jeez, you guys must have everything figured out – awesome!), I did receive a few survey requests.

I’m sure many of you have seen the ‘25 random things’ survey, and I got a few requests to fill that out. I also got a few requests for the ‘8 things list’ that many of you throughout the blog world have already participated in. I think I’ll save that one for next week.

For now, I give you 25 random things about me:
1.) I believe anything happens for a reason. Call it cliché, trite, cheesy or lame. I don’t care.

2.) The Mister is the best thing that has ever happened to me. period. He is my soul mate, best friend, lover, partner in crime and the only person who understands me better than I do myself. (in a non creepy way ;) ). P.S. you can read our love story here.

3.) I miss performing. I hope I one day have the time to be in more shows. There are few things in this world that are better than the feeling of being on stage.

4.) I am incredibly not graceful. Clumsy, klutzy, awkward, dorky, you name it. If you don’t know this about me by now, I have you fooled. me-1; you-0

5.) Put me in a room with a rat and I will literally go insane. Bonkers — straight to the loony bin. I HATE them. HATE. seriously, grasp the hatred…

6.) I’m kind of obsessed with living healthfully. I HATE when people judge me because of it and I HATE food pushers. I don’t want the other brownie because I don’t want a big butt, OK? Why is that so hard to comprehend? Also– to those who “love” exercise: you lie. Well maybe not, but when I say it I’m kind of lying (at least I admit it, right?) Exercise sucks (p.s. when I refer to exercise I’m mainly referring to ‘the gym,’ because I do really love outdoor exercise like hiking, walking, etc,) — it hurts. we sweat. we make weird noises. we look gross. What we love is RESULTS and the feeling we get AFTER we exercise. But if that’s what you need to tell yourself to get it done, fine, I won’t call you out (I do it, too, it can be our secret).

7.) I think know I am going to make an awesome mom and I can’t wait to have kids . I know the Mister will make an amazing father and I can’t wait to one day have our own little clan (scary, huh?) Two of my very best friends (T&P!– love and miss you xoxo) have the most beautiful baby girl (who I love to pieces). I am secretly jealous. I know after the Mister and I spend a weekend with them we have ‘baby’ on the brain. They make it look so easy! (People, I know having a baby is hard work, I am not suggesting it’d be easy)

8.) For those of you who know me well, you know that when I was a little kid I used to want to be a famous actress. I was so convinced that I would be. I mean I TRULY believed it. I even tape recorded myself on my karaoke machine practicing my Oscar acceptance speech (it pains me to type those embarrassing words, but yes, it is true). I have no doubt in my mind that I could have done it. It’s not arrogance or having a big ego, it’s confidence. I seriously KNOW that I could do it (maybe not the oscar, but at least star in a few films). So what changed, you ask? Priorities. It’s just something I don’t WANT anymore.

9.) I hate talking on the phone. I don’t even like ordering pizza. It’s really bad. I’m trying to get better. I’ve slowly progressed to actually being able to order food AND ask a question. I still put up a fight anytime the Mister wants me to call somewhere. It’s a work in progress. Also other than my family and the Mister, or if I am expecting the call, I send every phone call I get to voicemail. Take no offense, I have issues.

10.) My mom is my best friend (I’m not just saying this, my mom really is my best friend in the entire world. If you met her, you’d try and steal her to be yours — love you momma ;) ) and my dad is my hero. My brother is pretty sweet, too. My family is so important to me and I am so thankful for the relationships I have with each one of them. Side note: I ADORE my in-laws. They rock. I am so grateful they accepted me into their family with open arms. And, I have sisters now! Good People.

11.) I love good food. Even unhealthy good food – everything in moderation, people! My favorite foods of all time — Pasqualles bread sticks WITH dipping sauce, Westerville, Ohio; Ginos Pizza, Ithaca, NY; Giordonos Pizza, Chicago, IL; Pita bread and soup — TAZA, Woodemere, Ohio; Fried Banana, Amazon Trail, Twinsburg, OH (RIP); Carmel Corn, Solon Movie Theatre (also at Chagrin); Pumpkin Ice Cream with Marshmallow Swirl; Handel’s Ice Cream; Character Cookie, Giant Eagle; Pretty Woman Sushi Roll, Sushi Rock, OH; Pancakes (various flavors); The Bongo Room, Chicago, IL. ‘The salad‘; Stone Oven

12.) I hate that people judge me before they get to know me. I am a nice person. I am a good person. Don’t judge people based on pre-conceived perceptions or rumors, judge them by the interactions you’ve actually had.

13.) I converted our 3rd bedroom into a closet. It still isn’t big enough.

14.) My life is better than I could have ever imagined.

15,) I look forward to getting older and all the experiences the future will bring.

16.) I am terrible at ‘grown-up’ stuff. I’m really unorganized with bills, receipts, etc. I procrastinate having to do anything like making doctor’s appointments, etc (I think this is mainly due to my phone phobia). It drives the Mister CRAZY.

17.) I can fall asleep anywhere, anytime.

18.) Although it didn’t really come across this way, I didn’t really like high school. I love everything I did – activities, etc. But I always felt like I didn’t fit in anywhere. I hated all the drama and couldn’t wait to get out. I only talk to about 3 people I went to high school with.

19.) All of my best childhood memories were in the company of my very best friend, Tracy — truth or truth, dirty dancing routines, ghostie, rachelle, ‘put the song in my hand,’ snow white, cheese pickles ketchup and tomato, ouija, elvis’ ghost, california raisins, teddy and hannah, “walk? now? halfway? bye.” the list goes on…. I miss you

20.) My best friends are usually guys. ‘Girly girls’ can be catty, judgmental, jealous and annoying (no offense). I did however meet two of the most amazing girls in college. I have no doubt that they are 100% of the reason why I loved college so much. We are so much alike and different enough to keep things interesting. I miss you girls more than you know. I love you to death and really hope we’ll get to see each other more often. SMA.

21.) The summer before college was probably the greatest summer EVER. Scavenger hunts, late nights at Denny’s, weekends at the Cocos, spending $5 and sitting at Friday’s for 5 hours, Josh having to wait 12 hours in a car garage, getting stranded in Columbus, movies in my parents basement- guys, thanks for the memories. And thanks for accepting me into your family ;)

22.) I can’t wait to REALLY travel the world with the Mister. There are so many things I want to experience with him. So many things I want to see. I can’t wait.

23.) I think know I am the best wife in the world. Don’t get me wrong…I wouldn’t be the best wife to anybody, that’s not what I’m saying. But for the Mister? I’m the best wife in the world. That makes me so incredibly happy. If I tried to explain it to you, you’d puke. I love our relationship and I love that we’re crazy, madly, deeply, wildly in love. Because really — is any other way worth it?

24.) My father is the best man in the world. He can do absolutely no wrong in my eyes. I have so much respect for that man and anyone who meets him always feels the same way. He is the most selfless, gracious, humble and generous man I have ever met. The fact that I have made my father proud is one of my biggest accomplishments. I will always be my daddy’s little girl — breakfast every Sunday, stamp collecting, ‘Goodnight Moon,’ Indian Princesses, camping (side note: I’m fairly certain my dad HATES camping), the list goes on. I love you, Dad.

25.) I earned my black belt in karate. Even though I’ve been out of practice, I know I can kick your butt. I’ve broken a guy’s arm before…that’s another story, though.

That’s all. I’m off! Have a fantastic day — it’s beautiful out there!

Your turn, tell me one random thing about YOU.

I’ve thought about converting a third bedroom in my house into a closet. Then I might actually have enough room for all the clothes I’d like to have.

About the phone thing…I am TOTALLY the same. I mean totally. I hate ordering, or talking…ugh. Just the thought of it bothers me lol!!!

And I forgot the other thing I meant to say. Oops! Oh yeah I remember! I am very proud of the fact that I can now say that I ENJOY exercising…isn’t that weird??? I know how weird it sounds :) lol!

Ok, and now I have a weird question which is part fashion friday, part solve it…I am going to go to my first funeral on Monday, and have no idea what to wear. I mean I know I’m supposed to wear black…but all black? I don’t want to look like a spy…so yeah, if you had any tips on how to look good but not inappropriate that would be great. And technically, before Monday would be great (you can message me) but if you want to do a post later on on that, it’s not super cheery…but I’m sure I’m not the only one!

  3. What a great list. I love seeing all the passion and commitment to people (and future people!). Let me know if your travels take you to Berlin… and I HOPE THEY DO!

Awww, I’m really loving your blog and how cute you and the mister are!!

I really want to hear the story about how you broke the guys arm!

  5. Ruby says:

I LOVE number 6. I am the same way completely, except I don’t stand up for myself. Do people really think we stay fit & at a healthy weight by magic? Anyhoo, great answers!

  6. Lesley says:

I’m espeically with you on 2,6,9,14,17,18, and 23 (of course relating to my own life and my own mister ; )

Yeah, I’m really working on the whole phone thing an the whole doing adult things in an organized way and on time. (Yeah, I procrastinate everything, too and I’m quite positive MUCH of it has to do with my own phone phobia!)

  7. K says:

Okay so numbers 1, 6, 9 are three right out of my book! I LOATHE the phone! Not just hate, loathe! I always get so awkward and I hate when there’s random pauses ugh, awful!

  8. sue says:

I’m so surprised to hear bout the phone thing! I’m the same way- people think I’m nuts because I can’t do something as simple as order a pizza over the phone…looking at the comments, I feel reassured! Umm…one random thing about me? I don’t have my ears pierced because I’m too afraid- I don’t believe anyone who tells me “it’s just a pinch!”

  9. Marion says:

Oooh I love these lists! And they give you so much insight into a person who puts a little bit of time and thought into them, as you did. I with you on #1, #4, and #18. Oh, and #6 too, although I don’t have the self discipline to exercise as much as I’d like.

Something random about me: Food fascinates me. I read cooking magazines and blogs, adore vintage cookbooks, love to cook and try out new restaurants, and wish I had more time to do reading on food culture, politics, and sustainability and nutritional issues.

  10. Sagan says:

Loved learning more about you! I’m the exact same with #9, hehe. I aspire to your black belt status. And I *adore* that your “I think”s were crossed out and replaced with “I know”s :)

  11. Denise says:

oh, please don’t hate me… I love to exercise.

  12. Chania Girl says:

Oh, yay! I’m so glad I stopped by today. Have only read two posts so far but I LOVE them and will certainly be coming back. How great that you posted your 25 Things, an easy way for someone new to your page to get an idea of who you are. It was a fun read!

Random thing about me: I spell things backward in my head when I get nervous or feel a bit at loose ends (I think it’s me trying to see order or control or something). Needless to say, I am a great companion to have for Cranium!

p.s. I’ve got my 25 things posted too if you’re curious (under “About Me”). Looking forward to coming back here.

  13. [...] I don’t want to toot our own horns, but (TOOT! TOOT!) the Mister and I did a pretty fantastic job yesterday making dinner for my parents, brother and grandparents! It was our first attempt at a large dinner and we didn’t have any major episodes! — Well I did drop a jar of jelly on the floor, which proceeded to project shards of glass everywhere (as well as jelly), but we’re just going to pretend that didn’t happen — I told you I was a klutz… [...]
