Fashion Friday – Our first contest!

Happy Fashion Friday!!
Isn’t it crazy how when you are actually shopping for something you need really want you can’t find it ANYWHERE? I had been looking for the perfect black, above-the-knee boots for months! I had very specific requirements for these said boots, and I couldn’t find them anywhere.
My requirement list:
- No higher than 3 inches (anything higher that above the knee would make me look like a street walker)
- Leather (preferably distressed)
- Rounded or square toe (see first requirement)
Who knew just how incredibly difficult it would be to find a pair of boots with these specs?!
This past November, my mom and I took a mini-vaca to Chicago. We took the megabus (highly recommended, btw), stayed one night in the city and woke up the next morning with one mission: shop (and eat– o yea! and see Dirty Dancing the musical). Anyway, we walked the Magnificant Mile, yadda yadda yadda — still no boots. Now, I’ve spent a decent amount of time in Chicago with modeling, plus one of the coolest (and most fashionable) women I know lives there (hi, Aunt Jenny!), so I know where all the great off-the-beaten-path boutiques are. My mom and I were also lucky enough to spend a good portion of our shopping excursion with Jenny, as well. In that time frame of the adventure, I found them.
They caught me by complete surprise. At this point we’d been shopping for hours and I’d really begun to lose hope. But as I walked into one of the newer shops on Damen Ave, I spotted them. Standing tall on the top of the shelf, basking in the perfectly positioned spotlight, they stood. They would be mine.
I wear them with everything. Skinny jeans, leggings, skirts, dresses, AH love them! It just so happens they were featured in my one of my favorite outfits I wore this week.

Now, onto the WAY more exciting stuff….
I am so excited to share all the fantastic Fashion Friday entries I received! I’m so impressed by everyone!
First (in order of receipt) we have Betsey.

Betsy
This fashionista MADE her dress. How awesome is that? I once had to make a pair of flannel pants in 8th grade home-ec. I sewed one leg inside out. This is not a lie. I applaud you, Betsey. Your dress is stunning – LOVE the color and mix of patterns and it’s such a great shape on you! Betsy’s adorable pink pompom shoes are from J.Crew.
Next, we have Sherry.

Sherry
Doesn’t that just get you so excited for Spring? I LOVE the skirt — such a fun print! I’m also a big fan of the belted cardigan right now — gives great shape to the sometimes boxy cut.
Next up is Sue.

Sue

Sue's goods
Sue got her dress on sale (she says, super duper clearance, to be exact – love that!) from Loehmann’s. The hair bow, her favorite part of the outfit, was purchased at Hot Topic. Shoes are from Payless, vintage necklace from eBay, and handbag is the one and only -Louis Vuitton. Sue is a perfect example of mixing luxury high-end with affordable. She looks fantastic– I LOVE that hair bow
Anais shared one of her favorite outfits that she wears out on a date. Check out that beautiful smile of hers! Those pearly whites go perfectly with her layered pearl necklace, which she says will suffice until she can buy a real one

Anais
Next we have Diana.

Diana
Again, I love the belted cardigan and the green purse is a great accent to the neutral outfit. Well done, Diana, you look awesome!
Finally, Sarah shared on of her favorite winter go-to outfits.

Sarah

Sarah - side shot
Cardigan- Smart Set, V-neck- Wet Seal, Scarf- Holt Renfrew, Belt-Bluenotes, Jeans- Rock & Republic, Shoes- Spring). I love the casualness of this outfit. It’s so relaxed and comfy looking, but is extremely polished at the same time. That’s hard to pull off. I love how Sarah adds a bit of personality with the hot pink belt.
See how fun that was?!? I really hope everyone continues to participate and hopefully others will join in on the fun! I LOVE seeing what other people are wearing and think this will be a great place to share ideas and get some inspiration for our own outfits. Thanks to all who participated.
So that part you’ve all been waiting for…The prizes of course! I used the Random integer generator and assigned everyone to a number. Some entries received two numbers, if they linked back to the contest in their own blog. And the winner is… random integer 2!
