Daily Delish – Ice cream – 8 reasons to dig in

Daily Delish

So you all love ice cream, right? Who doesn’t? Seriously, when I find out someone doesn’t like ice cream, I totally judge them (just keepin’ it real). I’m sorry but how can you NOT LIKE ice cream? And don’t give me the whole dairy/lactose/vegan thing, because we are lucky enough to live in a time where there are options for all of you!

As much as I love ice cream, I REALLY love being healthy (and fitting into my clothes, but that’s just a nice side-effect). You can imagine my delight when I discovered Only 8.

Only-8 has “only 8″ calories per ounce and includes “only 8″ (get it?) ingredients that make up this gluten-free, all natural, frozen yogurt DELIGHT.

Look at these nutritionals:

for 1/2 cup:

Only-8 is sweetened with fructose (a natural fruit sugar), so it doesn’t have the aftertaste of other low-calorie frozen yogurts that use chemical substitutes.

Only-8 is sold at ice cream parlors (check with your local mom and pop shop, this is sold at MANY locations) all over the world, and I am lucky enough to have one close by. Clevelanders: check out Chocolate Emporium to get your fix!

Only-8 comes in several flavors (I always opt for twist, so I can experience both)
Flavors I’ve tasted:

I want to point out that Only 8 is not for everyone. I personally love it, but I like soft serve frozen yogurt and the lighter, grainier texture it provides. If you are looking for something rich and creamy, this isn’t for you. It is creamy, but not rich and heavy like the full-fat versions. It normally receives rave reviews and it’s a great treat for someone who wants something that actually tastes like ice cream, without having to take in a lot of fat, calories or sugar.

The Mister and I like to buy quarts of Only-8 so we have it on hand to make our own culinary creations.

Check out mine from last night!

That sounds really good! Hurray for healthier versions.

I think if people say that they don’t like ice cream, it’s because they haven’t come across the right ice cream yet ;)

Love your idea for the hot fudge sauce.

ice cream is by far my favorite thing in the entire world. anything from dairy queen is the best!! but, i also like the low-cal kind you’re talking about. in nyc we have tasti di-lite, which is very similar. they have different flavors everyday.

That is some low calorie ice cream! I recently discovered berryline (25 calories/oz) and am totally obsessed with it. It tastes full fat and super indulgent but it’s not… and they are opening another location in my building!!! I’m so excited!
Other favorite (less figure friendly) ice creams include Ben & Jerry’s new york chocolate fudge ice cream and Cold Stone german chocolate cake i/c. Yum! :)

I love ice cream! My favorite flavor is cookie dough. I like to splurge and get the “real” stuff: Ben & Jerry’s. I watch my portion and those convenient little cups of it are perfect.

  14. I’m a vanilla girl. My hubby will eat anything and everything as long as it’s called ice cream. He will definitely celebrate when he reads your “Only 8″ice cream post. He’s the real ice cream dude. I should check out the groceries to see if they sell “Only 8″. He would be really happy with that.
