The Daily Delish

Each day, I’ll share my daily delish — Cheesy, I know. Instead of taking photos of everything I eat, I’ll share my FAVORITE dish of the day, as well as provide a bit of insight as to why it’s a healthy choice! Unless it’s something REALLY unhealthy and then I’ll just pretend I didn’t eat it (how would you even know, anyway?!) fess-up. I had a delicious breakfast this morning that I just HAD to share! After reading this and this, I was inspired to incorporate REAL eggs into my breakfast.

To start, two arnold sandwich thins – donut style ;)

Add a cage-free organic egg…

  1. I love this meal! Honestly I’ve never tried my eggs like this but might need to pick it up :)

  2. My grandpa used to make them for me — with mickey mouse pancakes! So delicious, you should definitely try it out ;)

Heh… this is the sort of breakfast that V makes for Evey in V for Vendetta. My husband JUST made this for himself this weekend ;-) I am amused.

  4. MizFit says:

oooh and we used to call this EGG IN A FRAME!
    Id forgotten about it…

  5. I’ve also heard it referred to as egg in a basket ;)

Thanks for commenting on my blog. Your breakfast looks a little something like an EGG in the HOLE. I guess there’s a lot of different names for this yummy b-fast. No matter what the name, it looks great.

  7. Sagan says:

Mmm I adore eggy in a basket! I like my eggs best poached on a slice of multigrain bread from my local bakery. Eggs are amazing.

Also after reading your About Me section I’m pretty sure you’re one of the coolest people I “know” :)

I LOVE that breakfast! It looks so good. And oozy eggs are deeelicious. I have never made an “egg in a basket” type breakfast before but I love dunky eggs so this looks pretty darn ideal.

Love the blog too, looks like you’re going strong already! I can’t wait to see more, especially these fav meals of the day if they’re all going to look that tasty.

  9. Ashley says:

wow that looks amazing! i need to make those soon :) you’re going to have a big following! youve got some great posts!

  10. Brittany — I love it when dishes take on interesting names depending on where you grow up!

Sagan – I love fresh bread! We don’t buy enough of it. It’s just me and the Mister and I always end up throwing out half the loaf– I HATE wasting food. How do you keep yours fresh?

Kristie — Thanks for the words of encouragement, I’m so excited to be a real blogger ;)

    Ashley– So sweet, thanks!

  11. Erica says:

Love the eggs! A friend of mine called this a Toad in the Hole. I don’t see why’s it’s a toad, but the name works! I don’t eat bread any more, but this does look very appetizing.

  12. Real eggs? You mean cage-free and all that jazz? I am so torn up about the egg and chicken industry, I happily buy the most expensive and supposedly good-practices brand eggs they sell at my Whole Foods. but I’d like to start getting them direct from a farm. I don’t really live by any farms though! They taste sooo much better when they are good quality, don’t they? Amazing.

  13. Michelle, I do mean cage-free organic eggs. I am also kind of torn on the issue. After reading the two articles I liked to, it makes a bit more sense. They truly do taste better when they are good quality — as most foods do ;)

  14. Rose says:

Love the blog, Shannon! It was good hearing from you on my blog.

I read your bio, and we are so alike in terms of education. It’s not even funny.

  15. Elina says:

I love all the crusty cheese on the outside. Yum!
I like my eggs the exact same way! Nice and runny. Mmm

  16. Holly says:

Finally, someone who recognizes the benefits- actual HEALTH benefits- of eating egg yolks!

  17. Coco Knudson says:

mmmm…those look eggcellent!! I have never in my life had “eggs in a whole” or however you call it. I’ll have to try it..your pictures won me over

  20. Oh my goodness that looks fantastic! It seems there has been an insurgence in “egg in hole” type breakfasts lately, I am going to have to try one. I love the idea of using a sandwich thin! :)
